The Story

After 6 years of dating and 2 years of marriage, everything is going fine for Jessie and Paul. But Jessie’s bisexual curiosities, which started as a whisper and grew into a raging scream, won’t stop tugging at her. She’s found herself in a sticky situation — needing to experience sleeping with a woman, while wanting to stay in her marriage with Paul. Paul, the ever supportive husband, is along for the ride as they travel together for one night in Joshua Tree to meet Sophie, a girl they met on a “throuple” app. But right after hitting the road, they remember that Paul’s Mom’s birthday is the next day and they forgot to get her a gift. This launches them into a panic, forcing them to juggle devising the perfect gift for Barb while preparing for a potentially life-altering experience for Jessie — all wrapped up in one chaotic drive.

I realized I was gay when I was 12 years old. The discovery of my sexuality came in tandem with my puberty — and it felt like all my feelings were just thrown into a blender, happening everywhere all at once. But, that was par for the course for my age, when your primary purpose is to figure out who you are. Even though it was confusing at times, I feel fortunate that a big part of my self-discovery came before the inherent pressure of “knowing who you are” in adulthood – when all your “coming-of-age woes” are meant to be behind you.
Now I’m 34, living with my wife and dog — but have been thinking a lot about how difficult it could be to come out later in life, and the paradox of monogamy and bi-sexuality.
I wrote ALL I REALLY WANT to hopefully give voice to this very complicated and very common experience. Just like Alanis Morissette belts in her banger (and my personal anthem) "All I Really Want", sometimes it feels like what you want is simple — but actually going after it is nearly impossible. I hope this film rings true to that experience and encourages people to continue "coming of age" at all ages and stages of life.

ALL I REALLY WANT is an homage to the classic road trip film, where the lengths of the emotional journey happening within the car outweighs the physical distance of the trip. That gritty, messy, almost sweaty feeling from days of proximity that we felt from LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE, THELMA & LOUISE, and CROSSROADS (yes, a classic). But it’s balanced with the whimsical, winding conversational curiosities from the BEFORE SUNRISE TRILOGY and WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. As Jessie and Paul leave LA and get closer to Joshua Tree, their raw emotions will reflect their bare surroundings — where everything is out in the open, literally.

ALL WE REALLY WANT is $15K to reach our final production budget. We have already raised a significant amount of our funding, but we need this to get us to the finish line.
Supporting this campaign doesn’t just help us get it made, it also supports indie filmmaking and the artists behind it. Every donation goes straight to production essentials, such as equipment rentals, securing locations, and editing the final cut. It truly makes a huge difference — thank you for being part of it.
If you don’t have the means to donate at this time, we would love it if you’d consider sharing our campaign on social media or with friends and family. It will be every bit as helpful to spread the word!

Jack is often referred to (quite aptly perhaps) as a jack-of-all-trades in filmmaking— often taking on multiple roles as a director, producer, cinematographer, and/or editor.
In everyone’s favorite year, 2020, Jack edited sketches for Saturday Night Live. Along with the other editors from the first at-home SNL episode, he was nominated for an ACE Eddie Award for Best Edited Variety/Talk Sketch Show. Jack has directed, shot, and/or edited projects with funny people like Chloe Fineman, John Early, Wayne Brady, Charles Rogers, Bridey Elliot, Abby Elliot, Patti Harrison, and Brittany Broski.
In addition to the comedy shenanigans, Jack does a lot of client work through his freelance video production business— working with all sorts of corporate and small business clients to produce story-driven and cinematic videos for their brands. He also works closely with showrunners and film/television executives to create sizzles and high end visuals for pitch decks, most recently for studios Media Res, Fifth Season, 20th and production companies like Semi Formal, Broadway Video, and Irony Point.
In 2015, Jack’s film was a semi-finalist in the Student Academy Awards. Since then, his narrative short films have played in the Brooklyn Women’s Film Festival, Santa Fe International Film Festival, and LA Shorts International Film Festival, to name a few.
Recently, Jack was an executive producer on the second season of Curious Case of Natalia Grace which garnered over 10 million viewers across linear and streaming platforms Max and Discovery+.
