A tale of Amal, a young woman whose heart beats at the crossroads of cultures, finding her way back to an old flame, and perhaps, rediscovering herself along the way. Growing up as a first-generation black woman, I was always searching for a reflection of myself in the stories I loved. Yet, I found a glaring absence. This personal connection to the struggle for representation is what drives me. I am not just creating a film; I am filling a void, telling a story that's deeply personal and universally needed. My background, passion, and unique perspective makes me the ideal person to bring this story to life.

About This Team
Writer & Actress - Emma Loliya
Emma Loliya graduated with a project management degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead. Growing up, she was actively involved in singing, theater, and attended acting classes with renowned casting directors and coaches. Adding to her list of accomplishments, Emma was featured on Playbill's (E.g., Search for a Star) marking a significant recognition of her talent in the performing arts. Emma also had the opportunity to interact with industry professionals from Disney, Fox and more, enriching her experience.
On TikTok, Emma found a platform to showcase her singing and acting skills, resonating with audiences. Apart from her artistic pursuits, she enjoys watching movies, writing songs and screenplays, and has a passion for travel. Recently, she became an Alum of “ Sister Circle Media".

Co-Writer - Aubrie Vivant
Aubrie Vivant is a filmmaker and screenwriter with an interest in telling character-focused stories. She graduated in 2023 from Minnesota State University- Moorhead with a BFA in Film Production and a Writing minor. During her time at MSUM, she worked as the Lead Video/Program Producer at the campus planetarium, creating both promotional, educational, and entertainment-centered scripts and videos. Outside of working as a Master Control Operator at Prairie Public Broadcasting, Aubrie also enjoys hiking, crocheting, reading, and baking.
Co-Writer - Kevin Morales-Hernandez
Kevin Morales-Hernandez is also a recent Graduate from Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) with a BFA in Film Production and Animation. Currently his work stems in both live action shorts and animated scenes. However, he loves the opportunity to collaborate on projects that have great creativity, a good fit, and that explore new territories. During his time at MSUM he assisted in the founding of the Animation Club & the Association of Latino Achievement and Success (ALAS). If he’s not sketching, listening to music, or working out he’s probably out losing sleep elsewhere.
Casting Director - Jessica Hayes
Jessica Hayes studied theater, writing, and project management at Minnesota State University Moorhead, HR Management at Rasmussen University, and acting/film with multiple acting studios. She is a local performer involved in film, sketch comedy, improv, and a range of community, regional, and professional productions. Jessica is currently a corporate trainer for Noridian and a freelance casting assistant. She has also taught improv and theater freelance, at FMCT (Fargo Moorhead Community Theatre), and with Natalie Sparrow.
Director - Devonte A. Figueroa
Currently residing in Fargo ND, originally from Atlanta GA. A Filmmaker with demonstrated aptitude and familiarity with the industry. With credits from North Dakota State and brands such as SJ Insurance “StateFarm”. Devonte A. Figueroa is in the process of forming his own video production studio where clients come to him for his unique vision.
Producer - Ella LeDocq
Ella LeDocq recently graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) with a BFA in Film Production and a minor in Entertainment Business. She loves directing and has directed a few short films throughout college. At MSUM, Ella was also the president of DKPD, a student run dance club that performed on campus, in the community, and filmed videos for their subscribers on YouTube. She loves to dance and listen to music in her free time. Because of this, Ella hopes to work on music videos in the future. Ella is currently based in La Crosse, WI and is working on becoming more involved in the art community in the region.
Public Relations - Abigale Larson
Abigale Larson is a filmmaker located in the Fargo/Moorhead area, she received her BFA in Film Production from MSUM in May of 2023. She has worked with several local filmmakers as well as Toby Jones, a writer and producer at Cartoon Network Studios. Abigale was given the spotlight award during her time at MSUM, an award that recognizes a student who makes a positive change on campus, as well as also reviving the film club, Frame-By-Frame. Abigale currently works at Prairie Public Broadcasting but is planning soon to pursue her Masters in Film at a college she finds fit. In her free time, you could find her editing, shooting film photography, or thrifting.
Illustrator - Lindsey Nelsen
Lindsey Nelsen will soon be entering her fourth year at Minnesota State University Moorhead. She is pursuing a degree in Graphic Design with an emphasis in Digital Design and Production, alongside a minor in Film Production. Throughout the year she works freelance as a graphic designer and videographer. She has worked closely with the Bemidji Sculpture walk as their lead videographer for the past four summers! Lindsey hopes to combine her love of film and graphic design through the art of motion graphics and poster design for television/movies. In her free time you can find Lindsey logging movies on Letterboxd and hanging out with her two dogs.
Location Scouter - Abbi Williams
Abbi Williams will be a senior this coming year at MSUM majoring in film production. Having spent a year working at Disney World, Abbi has gained a lot of knowledge in the entertainment business. When she's not crafting cinematic magic, Abbi's lens turns to photography, capturing the essence of people and the innocence of animals.
Marketing/Pr - Abinfoluwa “Binfy” Iwayemi
Abinfoluwa commonly known as Binfy is a Film Production student at MSUM. She is going into the second semester of her Junior year. Currently she is an intern at Tellwell, a video production company in Fargo. Binfy is a content creator who posts blogs on YouTube and TikTok. She is also the social media and PR coordinator for the African Student Union at MSUM. In her free time Binfy loves to hang out with friends, read, cook, go on walks and watch movies.
Sound Designer / Boom Operator - Seth Hansen (He/Him/They/Them)
Seth is a recent graduate from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Production. He loves working on all of the different parts of film, from operating cameras, to editing, to lighting, but he has a special appreciation for filmic sound and audio production. Currently Seth works at WDAY as a TV Broadcast Director and runs his own freelance videography business, Hansen Video Productions.
Outside of film, Seth loves to spend time with friends playing tabletop roleplaying games, play the tuba in a local community concert band, and relax with his pet bird Echo.
Camera Operator - Derek Dahlsad
Derek Dahlsad is a filmmaker and writer from Moorhead, Minnesota with a background in theater, television, graphic design, and photography. He is currently finishing his BFA in film production at Minnesota State University Moorhead, having returned to college later in life. He always looks forward to any opportunity to expand his creative skills.
Production Designer - Tylar Frame
Tylar recently graduated from MSUM with degrees in Photojournalism and Multimedia Journalism, as well as a minor in Advertising and Public Relations. She received several awards for her work with Campus News - MSUM’s broadcast journalism program - including the Upper Midwest Emmy Student Production Award for College Photographer of the Year in 2022. In addition to her journalistic work, she’s been a professional photographer with her own business for several years.
When she’s not taking pictures, there’s a good chance you can find her watching movies, hanging out with her loved ones, or partaking in one of her many hobbies, like collage art.

Bee is a recent graduate from Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) with a strong foundation in Film Production and Computer Information Systems, Bee has a deep passion for acting, theater, and film. Henri Jourdan is a highly skilled audio engineer and talented musician with over ten years of experience. He holds a degree in audio engineering from MSUM, where he has worked with bands, solo musicians, and short films. Each morning, Henri's goal is to improve his skills, build new relationships, and explore his experiences fully.
Social Media Assistant & Costume Designer - Rachael Heppner
Rachael is a senior at NDSU, pursuing a criminal justice degree. Despite her non-creative academic focus, she has a deep passion for the arts and loves collaborating with other artists. Her favorite forms of art include watercolor painting, modeling, sewing, and digital art. She was part of the spring 2024 campus FM cohort, where she honed her skills in content creation and storytelling. 
Assistant Director (2nd AD) - Bailee West
Bailee's passion for the performing arts was ignited a few years ago through local theater, where the thrill of acting, the energy of the audience, and the camaraderie of the people involved deepened her love for the craft.
After participating in several local productions, Bailee explored the film scene in Fargo and is excited to be part of her first film project!
In her free time, Bailee enjoys gardening, paddleboarding, kayaking, board game nights, and spending time with her family.

Marketing/Pr - Abinfoluwa “Binfy” Iwayemi
Abinfoluwa commonly known as Binfy is a Film Production student at MSUM. She is going into the second semester of her Junior year. Currently she is an intern at Tellwell, a video production company in Fargo. Binfy is a content creator who posts blogs on YouTube and TikTok. She is also the social media and PR coordinator for the African Student Union at MSUM. In her free time Binfy loves to hang out with friends, read, cook, go on walks and watch movies.
Sound Designer / Boom Operator - Seth Hansen (He/Him/They/Them)
Seth is a recent graduate from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a Bachelor’s Degree in Film Production. He loves working on all of the different parts of film, from operating cameras, to editing, to lighting, but he has a special appreciation for filmic sound and audio production. Currently Seth works at WDAY as a TV Broadcast Director and runs his own freelance videography business, Hansen Video Productions.
Outside of film, Seth loves to spend time with friends playing tabletop roleplaying games, play the tuba in a local community concert band, and relax with his pet bird Echo.
Camera Operator - Derek Dahlsad
Derek Dahlsad is a filmmaker and writer from Moorhead, Minnesota with a background in theater, television, graphic design, and photography. He is currently finishing his BFA in film production at Minnesota State University Moorhead, having returned to college later in life. He always looks forward to any opportunity to expand his creative skills.
Production Designer - Tylar Frame
Tylar recently graduated from MSUM with degrees in Photojournalism and Multimedia Journalism, as well as a minor in Advertising and Public Relations. She received several awards for her work with Campus News - MSUM’s broadcast journalism program - including the Upper Midwest Emmy Student Production Award for College Photographer of the Year in 2022. In addition to her journalistic work, she’s been a professional photographer with her own business for several years.
When she’s not taking pictures, there’s a good chance you can find her watching movies, hanging out with her loved ones, or partaking in one of her many hobbies, like collage art.
Co-Editor, Clapper - Bee Falcone (/they/them)
Bee is a recent graduate from Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) with a strong foundation in Film Production and Computer Information Systems, Bee has a deep passion for acting, theater, and film. Bee's work has been showcased in various venues and selected for film festivals, demonstrating Bee's commitment and talent in these fields. Bee is also an active community volunteer, believing in giving back whenever possible. In Bee's free time, he enjoys reading extensively, which further enriches Bee's creativity and knowledge.
Audio Assistant - Henri Jourdan
Henri Jourdan is a highly skilled audio engineer and talented musician with over ten years of experience. He holds a degree in audio engineering from MSUM, where he has worked with bands, solo musicians, and short films. Each morning, Henri's goal is to improve his skills, build new relationships, and explore his experiences fully.
Social Media Assistant & Costume Designer - Rachael Heppner
Rachael is a senior at NDSU, pursuing a criminal justice degree. Despite her non-creative academic focus, she has a deep passion for the arts and loves collaborating with other artists. Her favorite forms of art include watercolor painting, modeling, sewing, and digital art. She was part of the spring 2024 campus FM cohort, where she honed her skills in content creation and storytelling.
Assistant Director (2nd AD) - Bailee West
Bailee's passion for the performing arts was ignited a few years ago through local theater, where the thrill of acting, the energy of the audience, and the camaraderie of the people involved deepened her love for the craft.
After participating in several local productions, Bailee explored the film scene in Fargo and is excited to be part of her first film project!
In her free time, Bailee enjoys gardening, paddleboarding, kayaking, board game nights, and spending time with her family.
