Mission Statement
The Story
"ANALOG" is an introspective drama that navigates the complexities of familial relationships, the consequences of neglect. The story unfolds through the lens of Aditya, a devoted husband and father. While navigating the demands of his career, his relationship with his wife, Lakshmi, and their daughter, Mithra, unravel in the face of his neglect. Through a series of haunting voicemails and poignant memories, Aditya is forced to confront the consequences of his actions and reckon with the passage of time.
ANALOG will employ a blend of intimate, over-the-shoulder shots and wide, encompassing frames. A muted color palette will reflect the somber tone, while the use of sharp camera movements and sudden zooms will intensify emotional moments, immersing viewers in Aditya's world.
The story of ANALOG was initially inspired by Sanjeev’s own story. As a son of immigrants, Sanjeev heard his parents talk about the sacrifices that they had made, uprooting their entire lives in India to come to the United States. When establishing a new life for himself in college, Sanjeev revisited his parent’s tale of immigration and reflected on their story and the stories of hundreds of other Asian American immigrants with this new lens.
Through ANALOG, Sanjeev hopes to shed light on the Asian American migration narrative from multiple perspectives to fully understand the depth and the complexity of the sacrifices made on this journey and how its impact is felt intergenerationally.
When friend and now Producer on ANALOG, Serena, heard this story, she knew she had to help bring the story to life. Her journey in film production has been marked by meaningful contributions, including her role as an impact producer on the acclaimed documentary REFUGE.

This project began December 2023. The dream team spent the entire holiday season, building out and iterating the storyboard and script for ANALOG. From the help of dozens of mentors, we solidified the story in February 2024. To bridge the gap from concept to reality, we launched an initial fundraiser, securing $2,000. This funding was instrumental in transforming our story from words on paper to real footage. By the end of April 2024, we had filmed all the scenes we needed and were ready to dive into post-production!
Currently, we are working closely with our editor, John Le, to have the final product of ANALOG. In addition to working with John, we have been in talks with multiple sound mixers, a film composer, and a colorist to truly deliver quality with this film. Because we are a low-budget film production, the main ways we have to deliver quality is through the passion and grit of our team. With your continued support, we can take ANALOG to the next level! Our talented cast and crew delivered during production, and now we need your help with post-production, festival submissions, and finally sharing our story with the world.
Mark your calendars! By Fall 2024, we're aiming for multiple celebratory screenings of ANALOG in New York City, Washington D.C., and Atlanta. About This Team
Sanjeev Kumar, Writer and Director
Sanjeev is a recent graduate from the University of Virginia, earning dual degrees in Commerce and American Studies. During his tenure at UVA, he emerged as a fervent advocate for the Asian American student body, spearheading the initiative to establish an Asian American Student Center on campus. Through this film, he hopes to illuminate the raw and transformative journey of South Asian immigrants and immigrants alike, bridging cultures and fostering understanding in an ever-evolving world.
Serena Xia, Producer
Serena Xia has a background in the documentary space, namely working on the acclaimed documentary REFUGE. Serena managed screening contracts and logistics, successfully facilitating 20+ national impact screenings in collaboration with various religious and educational organizations post-film release.
James Mahon, Director of Photography
James Mahon has worked as a filmmaker for years, accumulating a diverse array of freelance and full-time roles, spanning from assistant jib operator for ABC to shooting music videos for local artists. His two student films, Bruno and The Gay Club, won 'Best Cinematography' and 'Best of Fest' at George Mason University’s 2017 Film Festival. With a Bachelors in Film & Video Studies, James now works as the Operations Manager at DC Camera. He has continued to work as a DP on a number of film projects, honing skills from cinematography to editing and VFX.
John Le, Cinematographer and Editor
John Le is a cinematographer and editor who recently graduated from the University of Virginia. While there, he pursued his passions by founding JCL Media, a media company offering graduation photos, event videography, and social media content for many students and organizations on campus. He has also produced a full length documentary titled "Edankraal En Route: Reviving an African American Space of Cultural Exchange in Segregated Lynchburg", capturing the story of Anne Spencer, a prolific poet who lived during the Civil Rights Movement.
Jericho Designs, Sound Operator
Jericho Designs is an audio engineer based out of Baltimore, Maryland. Jericho studies at Towson University as an Electronic Film and Media major with a concentration in Audio, and serves as the president of the Towson Audio Production Society. They have worked on various short student films, one of which was entered into the Baltimore Black Film Fest. They have also completed sound mixing for Grace City Church, produced theme songs for an upcoming Indie mobile game, and worked on multiple film sets as head of audio.

Nicole has helped with creating props such as letters and envelopes, and offering advice whenever her expertise is relevant. The film resonates with her not only because it portrays a family narrative, but also because it prompts viewers to reflect on their own personal journeys and the potential consequences of their choices.

The Story
"ANALOG" is an introspective drama that navigates the complexities of familial relationships, the consequences of neglect. The story unfolds through the lens of Aditya, a devoted husband and father.
