The Story
Hello, and thank you so much for supporting our film, and the heavens must have cried.
This short film was born out of a love of the 60s, of music, of true crime, and of a serious fascination for why people do the things they do. In Los Angeles, almost everyone knows the story of the Manson murders and the women who held the knives. I was fiercely interested in the grey area of these women: how they were simultaneaous victims and agents of their own undoing, and the romantic and music-filled decade in which they lived.
We also want to do something seldom done with short films: the companion release of a soundtrack of original music. What would these characters write if they had the freedom to do so? What would their story look like from an angle we have never seen, and through music we could never hear? We want to bring the sound and poetic lyricism of the sixties together with the indie sounds of the 2010s, and create a voice for these women and their stories. We plan to release this soundtrack on all streaming platforms, and create a physical LP of songs (just like all your favorite sixties bands!).

CHARACTERS // CAST

SUSAN ATKINS (“SADIE MAE”) // PLAYED BY HANNAH HOWZDY: all sex and savagery. She is closest to Charlie, in some ways his equal, in all ways his opposition. She appears the hardest, the wildest, to them all. Inside, something dark, lonely, and curious grows. With Charlie, she feels loved.

PATRICIA KRENWINKEL (“PATTY”/"KATIE") // PLAYED BY REMINGTON MOSES: all quiet and calculating. She is deeply trusted by all the girls, which softens the edges of deep insecurity she has felt since childhood. Her deep propensity for evil lies just underneath the surface. With Charlie, she feels beautiful.

LESLIE VAN HOUTEN (“LULU”) // PLAYED BY CATHARINE DADDARIO: all beautiful and glittery. Homecoming princess in high school, born to perfect and beautiful things. At times, she is cold and empty within. With Charlie, she feels necessary.

LYNETTE FROMME (“RED”) // PLAYED BY AMANDA TUREN: all warmth and heart. She holds the strongest, purest love for Charlie, untainted by doubt or disbelief. With him, her entire life was given purpose; her fractured soul was put back together.
CHARLES MANSON ("CHARLIE") // PLAYED BY NATHAN WALLACE: Both a boy and a man. A master manipulator, he knows exactly how to make anyone feel loved. His greatest wish is to be a pop star. His greatest need is to be needed. With the girls, he is a god.
