The Story
ANGEL is a deeply personal and emotionally resonant science fiction film spanning over 20 years, exploring the profound connections between characters from different walks of life, weaving back and forth between three timelines of people searching for their place in the world.
This film delves into themes of identity, love, parenthood, and the search for meaning in a world that may seem indifferent. Through the lens of an alien presence on Earth, the film contemplates our place in the universe and the transformative power of reliving cherished memories.
We’re so grateful to be able to say that filming wrapped on ANGEL in February of this year– 15 days of filming in 4 cities in Texas with dozens of characters and almost 100 extras, and endless hours of hard work and fun! We are now deep in the post production process and need your help getting the finishing funds for our movie.
At the core of ANGEL are its diverse and compelling characters, each on their own unique path of self-discovery. Hannah, cast away from her own kind, finds solace and love with Gabriel as they raise their child, Angel, secretly. Together, they encounter Celeste, a pregnant drug addict searching for her place in the world. Angel's inherent ability to help others infuses the film with a sense of joy and hope, while Hannah grapples with conflicting emotions towards Celeste. Meanwhile, in the future timeline, a young boy named Kurt embarks on a quest to find his mother, guided by the enigmatic alien, Dominique, who discovers unexpected meaning in helping him. Dominique's father figure, Raphael, is coping with trauma from the previous timeline and hopes Dominique has found her purpose.

The film jumps back and forth between three different timelines, most prominently in the 90s and modern day. Each timeline uses different filming techniques in order to mirror the tone and emotions of that particular era. Handheld and tight angles convey a sense of personal strife and uncertainty, while stillness and tripod shots evoke a feeling of loss and contemplation. Wide scope shots capture a bright and boundless future, and as timelines intertwine, the techniques blend seamlessly to enhance the storytelling. Color, sound, and music can help not only make each timeline artistically unique, but accentuate their emotional impact.

WHY THIS PROJECT? AND WHY NOW?
"I have always been drawn to the power of storytelling, especially in the realm of science fiction, where the boundaries of reality and imagination blend seamlessly. My personal journey with adoption has profoundly influenced my understanding of identity, belonging, and the connections that define us. This unique perspective allows me to infuse ANGEL with authenticity and emotional depth, making it not just a story, but a reflection of real, lived experiences. My commitment to exploring complex characters and intricate relationships ensures that ANGEL will resonate deeply with audiences, offering a fresh take on the sci-fi genre."
—Daniel Tucker, Writer/Director
ANGEL is not just another science fiction film; it is a heartfelt exploration of the human condition through the lens of an otherworldly presence. In a world increasingly driven by technology and superficial connections, there is a profound need for stories that delve into the essence of what it means to be human. By focusing on themes of identity, love, and the search for meaning, ANGEL addresses universal experiences that many can relate to, regardless of their background. The film's non-linear narrative and character-driven plot provide a unique cinematic experience that challenges conventional storytelling, making it a distinctive and necessary addition to contemporary cinema.

The timing for ANGEL is perfect in today's socio-cultural landscape. In an era marked by division and uncertainty, there is a growing desire for stories that emphasize connection, acceptance, and the transformative power of empathy. The themes of the film resonate strongly with current societal issues, such as the search for identity in a multicultural world, the challenges of non-traditional family structures, and the importance of understanding and embracing our differences. Moreover, the rise of diverse voices in filmmaking has created a fertile ground for stories that challenge the status quo and offer new perspectives. ANGEL is poised to captivate audiences who are hungry for meaningful, emotionally resonant narratives that reflect the complexities of our time.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
With the dedication and collaboration of our incredibly talented cast and crew – all of which were local Texas hires! – we were able to create an amazing film that we cannot wait to share with the world. The journey is not over yet. We’re headed into post production and are still in need of support. Our primary goals are to raise funds to be able to pay for exceptional sound mixing, dynamic color grading, and evocative music. If we are able to reach our initial funding goal, our stretch goals will include paying for additional visual effects, film festival submissions, and distribution expenses.

Thanks to our highly knowledgeable and incredibly talented cast and crew, the filming of ANGEL is of impeccable quality that deserves exceptional post-production. Given the exceptional quality of the production, achieving the film’s potential demands nothing short of top-tier post-production resources. This campaign will take us all the way through post production. Share the word with your network so that we can connect with as large of an audience as possible– a follow and a share go a long way!

We hope that you will be a part of making this film a reality. We loved making this film, and we’re so excited to finish bringing it to life and show it to the world.
