Mission Statement

Ours is a story of grief and hope. We’ve set out to make a film that shows the messiness of loss, the power of resiliency, and the discovery of one's voice through art.

The Story

Robin, a free-spirited andprecious six-year-old, spends most of her days playing with garden snakes and practicing dance routines while Joyce, her grandmother, cares for Robin's single mother, Susan, who battles late-stage cancer.

Ten years later, Robin and Joyce still live together, with Robin now looking after Joyce.  As Robin prepares for a new audition for the lead role, Robin battles with the pain of losing a loved one.

Hi, it’s Isobella (the director), and this is my story.

Two years ago, I lost my grandmother. She was a significant person in my life, and I began thinking about her effect on me. I thought about my childhood. Some of my favorite memories were running around her yard, playing with garden snakes, and daydreaming about my future. I didn’t know how sick my mom was. I didn’t know my grandmother spent most of her time caring for her and me. When I was eight, my mom died of cancer.

I want this film to honor the resiliency of the human spirit and pay tribute to these two women. Many of the details come from my experiences. The film is about grief but also about hope. Pain never really goes away. Sadness can wait around unexpected corners, but we can come together and find a way through.
