Mission Statement

The Art of Philately explores the rarified world of stamp collecting through an underworld lens. By placing a woman down on her luck at the center of the story, the film becomes a meditation on greed, betrayal, and despair—asking one essential question: Why do you need a million dollars?

The Story

MARCY discovers she possesses an extremely rare stamp, she sees it as a chance to escape the financial pressure closing in around her. Looking for a quick sale, she turns to NIGEL, a seemingly helpful police officer who claims he can connect her with serious buyers. But once words spreads about the stamp's existence, MARCY is thrust into a dangerous world of collectors, hustlers, and criminals who all know its true value.

As deals collapse and betrayals mount, MARCY realizes nearly everyone around her is manipulating her for their own gain. With a ruthless buyer closing in, a crooked cop playing both sides, and a mysterious rival with motives of his own, she must learn fast who can be trusted. What began as an opportunity for a fresh start becomes a deadly fight for survival, forcing Marcy to outthink the people hunting her and decide how far she is willing to go to claim a future of her own.

We are raising $5,000 to bring The Art of Philately to life through a focused, efficient production plan that prioritizes strong storytelling, a dedicated crew, and high production value.

PRODUCTION

Once funded, we will move immediately into final pre-production, locking locations, finalizing cast, and securing equipment. Our goal is to maintain a lean but highly effective set.

Production will take place over 4 days with a crew of approximately 20-25 people. This structure allows us to stay within budget while ensuring we have the necessary departments covered to execute the film at a professional level.

A large portion of our budget is dedicated to:

  • Paying our crew
  • Providing meals and craft services to keep everyone energized and supported
  • Securing essential camera, lighting, and sound equipment

This approach ensures a smooth, efficient shoot while respecting the time and talent of everyone involved. Bringing The Art of Philately to life takes more than funding—it takes a community.
