Mission Statement

As Above, So Below is a short film that explores the world of sex magic, a ritual used to manifest your deepest desires and attain self-mastery. Marlow is a woman who is on a path to self-discovery. She begins to tap into her eroticism as a way to heal herself from her past relationships.

The Story

With never feeling comfortable with her loneliness, Marlow finds herself on an unpredictable journey of self-discovery. First its Fuck Boy Tre, married, full of lies, but has the best sex she’s ever had. Then Marlow meets Sunny, she’s in over her head. Bipolar, possessiveness, but she pleases Marlow in a way no woman ever has. Still not happy with her decisions, Miles is introduced to her, by her mother, Sheryl. He’s good on paper but horrible in the sheets, yet she settles for the life her Mother always wanted her to have! One day, Mother Sheryl and Marlow get into a fight about her new found spiritual awakening. Sheryl raised Marlow in the church and taught her that Christianity was the only way of living. But Marlow must walk her own path.

One night, after a night of partying, Marlow has an outer body experience that leaves her wondering, who she really is? Her spiritual awakening has just begun. Her spiritual ancestor, Oya introduces her to a mirror and sex magic work to get closer to who she is as a woman.

WHY THIS STORY?

As Above, So Below have themes that touch on self-love, self-care, loneliness, and eroticism. Our goal is to dismantle the belief about sex through tapping into how it can be a tool for healing when using the sexual energy in a positive way.

Sex magic dates back to the first millennium, with roots in tantra in Central Asia, but it’s only in the 19th century, early 20th that becomes popular among occidental occultists as Aleister Crowley. Sex magic is just taking your purpose, and harnessing power through sex, to get some kind of the desired reaction from the universe. Basically, you do sex magic for the same reasons you would do any other type of magic: to bring things into your life, it could be anything you wish such as passing that exam or meet a new partner, connecting further with your body, or sending positive energy to someone who needs it. Simply put you’re manifesting something into existence by directing sexual energy towards it. It’s not a surprise that sex magic works wonderfully if you just think that sexual energy is life energy. Sex magic is both an art and a practice. It requires learning some basic principles, and self-love.
