In Alison Becker's directorial debut, we will tackle the stigma around physical disabilities via the humor of comedian Santina Muha. Living life in a wheelchair doesn't mean you're miserable; it means you are a badass who lives your whole life at the best level: ASS level.

Mission Statement

Unlike 99% of other projects, our project will focus on a hero with a visible physical disability. Representation of disabled individuals (Access Inclusion Seekers) is almost nonexistent. We want to change that. Our crew is also largely female - female lead, writer, director, DP, and producers.

The Story

In a comedic nod to 90s hip-hop videos, our video will celebrate people living with disabilities. We want it to be fun, funny, and help to end the stigma around disabilities.

Comedian Santina Muha, in a wheelchair since she was six years old, has a magical way of making the topic of disabilty accessible to all. When she and I were hanging out one evening, she played a hip hop song she wrote about how life in a wheelchair can be viewed as awesome because she's always at "ass level." As Santina puts it, being in a wheelchair kind of feels like being a celebrity - people rememeber you, you get VIP parking, dedicated bathrooms, and sometimes sexy men carry you up stairs.

I immediately wanted my directorial debut to be this music video. Our video will go beyond promoting inclusivity; it will celebrate disabled individuals (Access Inclusion Seekers) as true badasses whom every else loves and even envies.

I am so excited about how this video is going to look. We'll follow Santina's truly VIP night out. Everything from the club to Santina's make-up will ooze with the effortless coolness of blue and silver tones.

We'll see Santina roll through the club like a true celebrity - heads turn and cameras flash. Always at ass level, she'll roll past sexy ass after sexy ass, sipping bubbly and living her best life.

The track is jam packed with jokes, but also catchy AF. And as the song progresses, we'll see Santina invite her pals (Jimmy from Degrassi, FDR, and more) to roll with her. In the end, everyone's on the dance floor. Everyone's included.

We can't wait to share this project with you. While strides have been made in diversity representation, there is one group that is consistently left out of the picture: individuals with physical disabilities. This project is dear to our hearts, and I am honored that Santina is allowing me to make this my directorial debut. I have already worked so hard on prepping this shoot, and I promise you that any contribution will be used with intention and care. Our $6,000 goal is the bare minimum needed to get the film made.

Our stretch goals are as follows:

If we raise $12,500, we won't have to pay anything extra out of our own pockets.
If we raise $14,000, we'll be able to have contingency funds in place and cover some post-production costs.
If we raise $16,000, we'll be able to pay our crew a small fee. (They are currently sacrificing pay for their work out of passion for the project and its message).

If we raise $20,000 or more, we can pay our cast and crew closer to their actual rate, and we'd have funds for festival submissions to spread the word about disability inclusion.

I've been in the "business" for years and I have decided that I only want to work on projects with good people. The women behind this video, and the cause that it represents, are 100 percent solid. Also, above all, we promise this is gonna be funny AF.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your support.
