Mission Statement

Our mission is to craft a horror experience that lingers long after the credits roll. We aim to push the boundaries of fear and challenge audiences to confront the shadows within themselves. This film is an exploration of universal anxieties and a testament to the power of independent filmmaking.

The Story

"What happens when the technology designed to protect us becomes an instrument of our demise? " In a world full of violence, uncertainty, and anxieties, Jess Miller has found the answer- or so she thinks. Jess has built a fortress inside her home, armed with modern technology and far away from the horrors of the outside world. What happens when the outside danger forces its way inside her home?

A.W.A.R.E explores what happens when the boundary between nightmare and reality collapses, leaving its main character to grapple with the terrifying unknown, and to question her perception of her home as a safe haven. It wrestles with themes of anxiety, isolation, and vulnerability.

Our biggest budget items are:

  • Cast and Crew- We strongly believe in fairly compensating our cast and crew who are committing time and effort into telling this story.
  • Post Production- A large section of our budget is attributed to post-production. We'll need special effect shots, color grading, sound design, and music.
  • Food and Travel- All of our cast and crew are living in New York City and will need to travel to our location in the Hudson Valley. After all that traveling and hard work, they'll definitely need hot meals.

If we are able to exceed our goal, the extra funds raised will go directly into the look of the film. More money will allow us to add things like:

  • Haze Machine: To enhance the look and mood of the location.
  • Extra lighting: We would be able to add lights on the exterior of the location to cast moonlight into the scenes.
  • More time in the location: More money would allow us more time on set with our team to make sure we get every detail just right.

This film's influences are:

  • Ari Aster's Hereditary
  • Ridley Scott's Alien
  • Oren Peli's Paranormal Activity
  • David Fincher's Panic Room
  • Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window

Paranormal Activity inspired the film's found-footage aesthetic, as well as it's minimal sound design and music.

Alien's inspiration is the conflict between an unsuspecting protagonist and smart, methodical, and strong adversary.

We're very happy to announce that A.W.A.R.E has already caught the attention of multiple festivals as a screenplay! It was nominated for 'best screenplay' at the Northeast Festival Horror Fest and won 'runner up best screenplay' at the Frights! Camera! Action! Horror Screenplay Contest.

  • Fundraising: 30-day campaign
  • Principal photography: (If funding goal is met) End of February
  • Post-Production: Begins as soon as we wrap principal photography
  • Festival Submissions: Summer film festival deadlines

We need to meet 80% of our goal to get the green light from Seed & Spark. This project is incredibly important to us, and we believe in our team wholeheartedly. However, we can't do this alone!

Hair, Makeup, and Wardrobe

Costs $1,000

Hair, Makeup, and Wardrobe are the building blocks of a character. What would Linda Blair be without makeup?

Festivals

Costs $1,950

Festivals are necessary to reach an audience, network with other filmmakers, and find potential buyers or distributors for your film.

Actors

Costs $500

We want to hire the best actors we can find for the project. There are no great characters without great actors.

Camera and Lighting

Costs $2,000

We need a cinematographer with proper camera and lighting equipment to capture the mood, shadows, and visuals of the film.

Locations

Costs $400

If Alien was shot in Ridley Scott's backyard instead of space ship, the film probably wouldn't be so popular.

Sound Mixing and Editing

Costs $1,250

Without sound, we'd be making a silent film and we're about 100 years too late for that.

Stunts

Costs $1,300

A stunt coordinator will oversee and help choreograph all aggressive contact between the actors for the safety of our cast and crew.

Post production and VFX

Costs $1,600

For the completion of the film including: editing, visual effects, coloring, and title sequencing.
