About This Team
Daniel Workman, Director
My name is Daniel Workman, and I grew up in West Virginia. Now based in Denver, Colorado, I work as a photographer and filmmaker. My upbringing in a culture often overlooked by mainstream media ignited my curiosity about human differences and similarities. This passion drove me to study anthropology, photojournalism, and cinema at CU Boulder. Today I aim to use the methodology and lens of anthropology to tell real stories that have relevance and impact beyond their natural reach.
Dylan Barth, Producer
Dylan is a Denver-based producer with a strong background in video journalism, short-form documentary, and commercial production. She has produced, edited, and narrated dozens of short documentaries for Business Insider covering a range of topics from soy sauce brewers in Japan to mud wrestlers in India. Throughout her career she has worn many hats: from directing and editing to researching and scriptwriting, Dylan is a swiss-army knife of a producer. She landed in Colorado by way of New York City, but her midwestern roots — Dylan was born and raised outside of Chicago — still run deep. Authenticity is one of her strongest core values, which is why she loves telling stories that illuminate and investigate the human experience.
Mark Trent, Camera Operator
Mark E. Trent is an Appalachia-based photographer and filmmaker. Born and raised in West Virginia, Mark has traveled the globe to tell intimate stories through award-winning photo essays and documentaries. Trent has worked in documentary and commercial spheres for clients such as The New York Times, Great Big Story, General Electric, Target, Subaru, CNN, and Warner Brothers, among others. Mark is a member of the Southern Documentary Collective Ya'll and serves on the board of the Looking at Appalachia Project.
Jesse Borrell, Editor
I am a director, cinematographer, and video editor who specializes in embracing the moment. I enjoy harnessing light, sound, and tech to create content that feels authentic to both the storytellers and their audience. For the past 12 years, I have directed the multi-media film crew of NOCOAST based out of Boulder CO, and we have traveled all over producing commercials, documentary films, PSA campaigns, music videos, and motion time-lapse photography.

Chloe Smith, Assistant Editor
Chloe was raised beneath magnolia trees in rural Arkansas and studied in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. She is a University of Denver Film Production and International Studies alum interested in environmental documentaries. As a graduate, she works in freelance editing and videography for numerous projects in Colorado and her home state of Arkansas. She volunteers her video skills for the non-profit, studioDRIFT, dedicated to promoting and encouraging outdoor recreation in Arkansas. She has developed a unique interest in ornithology and botany, and you can find her on her days off volunteering with the Birds of Prey Foundation, photographing and learning from the Mountains of Colorado, and their Inhabitants. She continues to grow her interest in developing ethical filmmaking skills and building genuine relationships with her human & non-human neighbors alike.
