Mission Statement

This music video seeks to lampoon the cliché image of a male rapper boasting of his financial and sexual conquests, by instead serving up an ode to the wonders of healthy sleep, that is as hilarious as it is visually stunning.

The Story

LISTEN TO THE SONG!

After several years of building up a following by making content on his phone, comedian Max Castillo is ready for his first full-fledged production with a professional film crew. He has partnered with upcoming director/VFX extraordinaire Christian Klein, who became obsessed with the song “Bed By Nine” after seeing Max perform it live at a comedy show.

Together, they concocted a wild video treatment that goes far beyond the earthly bedroom setting suggested by the song.

We open on Big Time Maca lounging in his luxurious, sunset-drenched bedroom. His girlfriend enters , ready for love, and Maca is willing...but then the forces of sleepiness take hold. We follow him as he flies through his extravagant dream world to find what he truly desires - his bed, in human form! They perform a sensual ballroom dance, and then finally, they are joined in the dream world by other friends of Maca's who have also fallen asleep on their partners.

We're coming for you, Baz Luhrmann!

Christian and Max are huge fans of the band The Lonely Island, comedy rapper Lil Dicky, the musical TV show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and multi-talented artist Lil Nas X. For this music video, they seek to channel that same ethos of a comedy sketch set to music, with the silly subject matter taken dead seriously in terms of production value and visual craftsmanship. They want to reach that point where the high visual quality becomes an additional layer of comedy - leaving the viewer wondering how something so goofy could possibly look so good!

Also, since the song is inspired by the musical stylings of 90's R&B, the video will keep those vibes going by paying homage to visual language of music videos by artists such as Boyz II Men, Janet Jackson, and Marvin Gaye. There will be sexy sunset lighting, dreamy blooming highlights, slow motion, groovy dance, and over-the-top romance galore!

We have all of our creatives, crew and locations locked, so now all we need is your generosity to make this crazy vision a reality.
