This movie is about the pain that comes from losing a child to suicide and the abnormal way one man deals with his grief - through becoming a superhero. Seeking revenge from the person he thinks drove his son to suicide - our hero is determined to become the hero his son always wanted him to be.

Mission Statement

The lead character in our story is on the hunt for the person who pushed his son to suicide. He comes to believe it's the step-dad to his son. They do not share the same race and once he learns of the step-dad's innocence - he realizes his own racial bias kept him blind from seeing the truth.

THE LONGER STORY:
 
Phillip Evans is grieving. His teenage son, Aden, has committed suicide. Searching for hope and answers he begins digging through old mementos and memories to discover an old box of mini-dv tapes that belonged to Aden. 
 
Medicating himself on booze and depression - Phillip watches the tapes over and over and over again. He just wants to feel close to his son. 
 
Through the old footage, Phillip discovers an old game that he used to play with his son, "Bedsheet Man." This sparks the idea to become what his son always wanted him to be: a real superhero.
 
This catapults Phillip into fighting crime and his demons, while he goes on the hunt for the truth behind his son's suicide. Why did his son kill himself?
 
This is an important film for fathers and sons - really for parents and children. It's real and redemptive. It's hard but hopeful. 
 
In our age when every other movie in the theaters is a "superhero" we can't escape the fact that our culture is obsessed with "superheroes." So what does make a superhero - a real life superhero? Throughout our story, Phillip will find out. 
 
 
 
THE STORY BEHIND THE STORY:
 
On April 26th, 2015 my Grandma died on her birthday. My grandma did a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of raising me, and also provided some calm in the midst of the storm that was called "my childhood"...so to say we were close is an understatement.
 
Losing her was tough. 
 
Before the year would end I would lose someone else very near and dear to my heart - my childhood best friend, Kyle. He was 35. He died of a rare brain disease.
 
 
 
This was also the year I made a new friend, "Jake." Jake warned me that he was dying, and yet we fought together to see that he did every thing he could to stay alive. A few months ago Jake lost his battle to his illness.
 
 
 
An inescapable subject for me has been grief. And I wrote this feature film, also with my friend Andy, really as a way to cope with my own grief. And through coping as I wrote this screenplay I found hope and it's a hope that I want to share with others through this fictional story.
