It's the end of summer senior year and the morning after a huge house party. A short film on the painful realities of growing up. The film delivers on this theme in a dark and powerful way when a last moment of teenage innocence is ended with an unexpected and devastating twist.

Mission Statement

This is a film on the harsh reality of becoming an adult – one we all know too well. Adulthood can literally (and figuratively) suck the life out of us and this story tells that truth in an abstract and surreal way which drives home the beauty of our youth and tragedy of growing up.

The Story

"It's a fascinating moment in time, and the twist is really shocking."

                                                                      - Slamdance

DREAM ON:

Before You Go is about the harsh realities of growing up. As a 48 year old, first time director, I know these realities all too well. Far too often we must give up our dreams and follow "Plan B". For me plan B, was Corporate America. I bet many of you are working on plan Bs too.

In all my years with a day job, I never stopped writing and learning about film. Last year, I optioned my first feature script and wrote several shorts, but when I wrote Before You Go, it clicked - I had to make this one! So, I've taken matters into my own hands, went to film school at night, put together a passionate team and here we are. Read on to learn more...

After a wild house party two teens, Jane(18) and Jacob(17), contemplate the universe and avoid discussing what happened last night. Jane tells Jacob he can't leave or it all becomes real. Instead they decide to make a fancy breakfast and read the Sunday Paper, pretending they're sixty years old and discussing their Grandkids, "Just incase it never happens". After Breakfast, reality breaksdown as Jane accepts the truth and Jacob prepares himself to phone the police.

This is a nicely contained, single location short, with 4 roles. This all makes it a very attainable project to complete with high quality and low cost.

LOOK AND FEEL:

WHERE ARE WE:

We are in currently in production and I’ve attached several talented professionals who love the script and are all in to get it done. We already had our first round of shooting on location and we captured some amazing footage and really came together as a team.

WHO WE ARE:

Our Cinematographer, Paul Niccolls has shot feature, documentary, and short films and has a great eye for visual story telling.

Our Editor, Adam Kurnitz has edited several short narratives and many documentaries. He was recently nominated for the Ace Eddie award for The Velvet Underground Documentary.

Our Producer, David Ginsberg is a location manager for big budget film and television. He is moving into the producer role on his first feature this summer.

CAST:

Through their connections we have filled out the rest of the team with talented professionals. Everyone has agreed to work below their normal rates because they are passionate about the story and their craft. In this sense there is a real feel of partnership and investment among the crew and cast.

CAST:

After reviewing over 2000 submission, countless auditions, and callbacks, we cast our two leads – Clio Contegenis and Juan Teisaire. Both professional working actors with previous credits, but more importantly they are perfect for the roles.

WHERE'S THE MONEY GONNA GO:

All funds will go towards Production and Post-Production costs, including: Cast, Crew, Location, Housing, Editing, Color Correction and Sound Design - the steps that really differentiate a quality film.

That's where you come in. By partnering with us, you can bring this vision to life and join a team of dedicated an passionate story tellers.  Once the film is finished, we'll be submitting to film festivals around the US and Europe to get the film in front of audiences everywhere we can. Of course, as a partner you will get the see the film first (from the comfort of your home). We invite you on this team as we move beyond this film to our next projects together.

We set a modest goal to cover the remaining expenses to finish production and get us through post production and festival submissions. Once we hit that goal, additional funds will go towards recovering expenses previously incurred.

LOVE (of film) IN THE TIME of COVID:

We have made protecting our cast and crew a priority. Everyone on set will wear a provided N95 mask unless they are actively on camera. Rapid Covid tests will be available for anyone displaying symptoms. We have a Covid compliance officer who has advised us on protocols. While covid has made it challenging for film prodution, everyone is eager to get back to work and these practices ensure we can do it while remaining safe.

OUR MASCOT (and location):

PREP-WORK:

Countless hours have gone to preproduction and preparation so we make the most of our shoot days. Story Boards (yeah it's embarrassing, I can't draw, but I didn't let that stop me), Floor Plans, Shot Lists, are all set and we are ready to go...

SHARING IS CARING:

The only way we will reach our crowdfunding goal (and beyond) is by expanding our network and ou can really help.  Please share our campaign via your social media, email, word-of-mouth, however you feel comfortable. We'll make it easy for you, just copy and paste one of these:
