The Story
Bell Isle film seeks to raise at least $15,000 for production and distribution of our short film. Our team is currently in the production phase and would appreciate your support in order to move forward on our timeline as soon as possible and perpare our film for festival season.
The film is told through the complex viewpoint of our main character, Jessica. Belle Isle provides an intimate portrait of a woman riddled with a deep pain she can't express. Jessica's narrative begins with a perspective of a woman who appears to be marching out of step with society and unable to claim her full identity. At a time when trauma and mental health are moving towards the forefront of our social conversations, Belle Isle aims to highlight the narrative that one woman's struggle with identity and personal boundaries can be the story of many.
With that, we have made our production process very inclusive and we are aligning ourselves with team members who can bring their own personal experiences to the film. We have partnered with respected professional dancer and founder of the Jacksonville Dance theater Rebecca Levy as our choreographer and Katie Mccaughan as our body movement expert. Our team has been working with them closely as we learn to tell the story of our main character through movement. We have also partnered with Creative Veins acting school to cast our film. Our production team is made up of members of Color House Productions, a local rental house and production company. All of our cast and crew is local to Jacksonville and everyone involved is included in our budget for the film. Our aim is to include the community as much as possible during the process of filming as well as afterwards for our screenings.
Belle Isle is currently fundraising to finish our project. We have three or more days of shooting remaining and our final editing, our goal is to have the film finished by spring 2021 for festival submissions and distribution. We will be submitting to large and small film festivals, as well as planning a virtual or in person screening here locally in Jacksonville, Florida- tbd, Covid. During this time we are following all preliminary precautions to move forward as safely as possible. We work in masks and all cast and crew members are/will be Covid tested before and after shooting. We are so excited to include the community in the process of creating this film as well as having them apart of its release and screening.

About This Team
Our collaborative team is made up of Jacksonville based artists Michelle Calloway and Farrell Huntley. For our project entitled Belle Isle we aim to create a short film exploring themes of trauma and mental health that effect many women in our community including ourselves. Written by Michelle Calloway, this is a personal project for her with a strong intention and clear vision. With the added collaboration of Farrell Huntley as our director both women have chosen to co-produce the film and bring their extensive experience in the film industry and personal perspective to this project.

We plan on launching a fundraising event as well in order to connect the community with our project more and assist in the fundraising process. A grant from the cultural council would mean a great deal to our team and help make sure we are allocating our money back into the local film community.
