The Story
Rohan returns to the house he fled a decade ago—broke, bitter, and with no other place to go. His father Manoj, once domineering and unyielding, is now aging but still proud. They barely speak. Their past is shaped by silence, punishment, and distance. When Manoj wets the bed one morning, Rohan—disgusted and detached—tells him to start wearing adult diapers. The request, clinical and cold, cuts deep. Manoj’s pride flares. Years of buried tension erupt. What begins as caretaking becomes a quiet battle for dignity, memory, and power—as both men confront what was broken and what still hurts.
Genre & Tone
Bhool Chook is a surreal psychological drama told with a slow-burn pace. The tone is poignant and bittersweet, with a tense, introspective undercurrent. Set largely within the confines of a single home, the film unfolds as a claustrophobic exploration of memory, control, and quiet emotional unraveling. As unspoken tensions simmer between a father and son, the walls seem to close in—blurring the line between reality and perception, past and present.
The Characters
Rohan is a restless wanderer with chipped edges and a heart full of quiet bruises. Scruffy and worn, he carries the weight of a strict childhood like invisible ink beneath his skin. Beneath the weariness is a flicker of something still alive—a longing for love, and a fight to reclaim the home he never truly had.
Manoj is a man shaped by tradition and silence, once a pillar of quiet authority and pride. Now aging, he wavers between strength and fragility—clinging to control even as it slips away. Beneath his stern reserve lies a father unsure how to bridge the distance his discipline once built.
We’re currently in pre-production. The script is finished, and we’re putting together our team and scouting locations. We plan to shoot later this summer.
This campaign will help us cover key production costs—crew wages, equipment rentals, transport, art direction, and meals. It’s a small film, but one that needs care. Every contribution, big or small, helps us make it right.
Once the film is complete, we’ll submit it to international film festivals that champion emotionally grounded, independent storytelling. Everyone who supports us will receive a private link to watch the finished film, along with behind-the-scenes updates along the way. If it screens in your city, we’d love for you to come.
Stretch Goals
If we surpass our goal:
- At 120%, we’ll shoot on 16mm film to give the story the texture and feel it deserves.
- At 140%, we’ll bring on an experienced sound designer to make sure every quiet moment lands with the weight it should.
How you can help:
- Pledge if you can.
- Follow the campaign—it genuinely boosts our visibility.
- Share it with others. We’ve added a copy-paste blurb below to make that easy:
