Mission Statement

BIENVENIDOS A LOS ANGELES puts a face of humanity on the complicated issue of immigration. We believe everyone has a story and is worthy of being seen & heard. The film addresses family separation, the 2018 Muslim ban & champions freedom of movement as a basic human right.

The Story

BIENVENIDOS A LOS ANGELES is inspired by true events when Elizabeth, a dear friend of Lisa's (writer+director), attempted to reunite with her young son, Chris, who'd been living apart from her in Mexico for 5 years.

Elizabeth arranged for Chris to fly from Mexico to LAX, but she was too afraid to go to the airport to pick him up. Lisa offered to go, and when she arrived, she discovered Chris had been detained by I.C.E.!

It was a harrowing night, but the film has a surprising ending!

AND WE CAN'T WAIT TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD!!

As diverse filmmakers, we have stories of immigration woven into our own narratives.

This film reminds us WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER!

The fictional script tells the story of 3 immigrant women whose lives intertwine one fateful day.

The story has been thoroughly researched and subjects to scrutiny & vetting from others who've faced similar situations in their lives, immigration attorneys, and a former INS agent.
