Through this film I hope to raise awareness to help worldwide understanding of these issues. One cannot judge a book by its cover. It is important to try and understand each and every individual, and find common ground. To encourage change in how we raise our children and how we view others.

Mission Statement

Mental health and eating disorders are both themes that are quite close to my personal history and important and relevant in our current culture. They impact many lives, yet are vastly misunderstood.

The Story

https://allymilewich.wixsite.com/blackbird

Logline: Blackbird is a who-rescued-who short film based on the true story of two vastly different young women - one 17, black, reserved and upper-class, the other 25, caucasian, bubbly and impoverished - finding common ground and connection in each other through their painful and difficult recovery an Eating Disorder Treatment Center. This film sheds light on the truth behind eating disorders, and the deep need for connection with each other, and with ourselves in finding answers to mental health struggles.

Covid-19 Plan:

Our team has put in place a strict covid-19 plan to ensure everyones safety.

1. Negative covid test prior to shooting will be required

2. Temperature checks will be performed daily upon arrival to set

3. When filming, minimal crew will be present in filming space during set up and filming

4. Crafty will be managed by the crafty PA only

5. Masks will be encouraged for all crew and cast members when cast members are not shooting.

Alexandra Miles (Writer/Producer/Noa): Alexandra Miles is an actress known for The Take Out Move (2021), Malice (2012) and Her Mind in Pieces (2019).

Amanda Kulkoski (Director of Photography): Amanda Kulkoski is known for her work with Fox Sports Public Broadcasting, The Food Network and Dirty Grandpa (2016).

Our hope is to have funding set by the start of production! We have a month- lets make it count!

Our ultimate goal for our project is a Limited Series, but creating our short film is first and foremost. We aim to provide a complete and stand-alone short film that spreads the messages addressed above, and cannot wait for this short film to spread awareness at festivals in 2022.
