The Story

Sadie is a neurodivergent coder. Natalie is her extroverted best friend. Together, they’ve built a revolutionary femme-focused dating app. But when the app goes viral, the pressure threatens to crack their friendship, their business, and their dreams. This fast paced, laugh-out-loud, comedy features catchy songs, fast-paced fantasy, and a whole heap of Pride & Prejudice references.
BL!NK is a bold, original musical about ambition, identity, and the beautiful mess of female friendship. Set in the high-stakes world of startups and STEM, it’s a story about what happens when women get what they wish for, and what it costs to stay true to yourself.
Why us? We’re Grace Ward and Elke Myers, friends since middle school choir and co-creators of BL!NK. Grace is a playwright and lyricist with a passion for writing complex, flawed female leads. Elke is a musical theatre composer with a knack for crafting hooks you’ll hum for days. Together, we’ve built this show from the ground up.
Why this? Because women’s stories—especially those about friendship, mental health, and STEM—deserve to take center stage. Musicals often sideline women’s ambition or box female characters into romantic endings. BL!NK says: not this time.
Why now? From the AI boom to the burnout wave, women are being shaped by a tech world that wasn’t built for them. BL!NK reflects that reality with humor, heart, and songs that hit hard. This is the moment to tell this story. With your help, we’ll make it sing.
Why here? We’ve been chosen to premiere BL!NK in full production at the 2025 SheDFW Summer Theater Festival, a prestigious program from SheNYC Arts that showcases new work by marginalized genders. It’s the perfect launchpad for our project and we will be working with the inimitable Rebecca Lowrey and MusicalWriters.com to make it happen.
How You Can Help
We’re deep in development and heading into rehearsals this June. We are asking for $3500 to directly support the only piece of the puzzle we have not found funding for yet, travel. These funds will help cover Grace and Elke's flights and living expenses while traveling to DFW over the summer, as well as a stipend for our phenomenal orchestrator, Halle Mitchell. All funds will be spent by August of 2025 in order to support our travel!
Stretch goals? You bet. Extra funds will go toward:
- Recording a cast album
- Submitting the script to further opportunities after SheDFW

About This Team
The BL!NK team is led by writing duo Grace Ward and Elke Myers, longtime collaborators and best friends who met in middle school choir in Boise, Idaho. Grace is an award-winning playwright and bestselling author known for her quick wit, heartfelt storytelling, and fierce female leads. Her writing centers neurodivergent and queer characters navigating ambition, identity, and messy relationships. Elke is a classically trained actor with a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance who transitioned into composing to bring BL!NK to life. Her melodies are clear, emotional, and deeply character-driven—bringing a rich musicality to the duo’s fast-paced, emotionally charged lyrics.
Our team is proudly femme-forward and Boise-grown, with a mission to create opportunities for women in musical theatre both onstage and behind the scenes. Our first project, The Wind in the Wildflowers, a children’s musical set in Idaho, premiered at Boise Contemporary Theater in February 2025.
For our upcoming production at the SheDFW Summer Theater Festival, we’re honored to be working with Rebecca Lowrey, CEO of MusicalWriters.com, who will serve as both director and music director. A nationally recognized advocate for new musical theatre voices, Rebecca brings deep knowledge of the industry and a passion for championing underrepresented creators.
As we head into production, our extended team will include actors, designers, stage managers, and musicians—all of whom identify as women or nonbinary artists. We are committed to equitable pay, access, and creative collaboration.
Together, we’re not just building a show—we’re building a space where women’s stories, voices, and talents are celebrated at every level of production. We can’t wait to share BL!NK with the world, and we’re so grateful to the community helping us get there.
