The Vision Behind the Bayou

Blood in the Bayou is an action-horror screenplay that follows the outbreak of a mutated fungal parasite (X29) in Houston, Texas. The story centers on a disgraced, ambitious politician named Sam Butcher, who unleashes the pathogen to cause chaos and manipulate a mayoral election, and a brilliant expelled science student named Ahmad Ervins, who is forced to help engineer the strain. As the infection turns citizens into aggressive, zombie-like predators, a disciplined Marine Corps veteran named Ronnie Jackson and a trauma nurse named Monica Reyes fight their way through the city to survive, evade armed tactical operatives, and race against time to stop the epidemic before a final military purge destroys the city.

The Story We Are Telling
Blood in the Bayou isn't just a horror film—it’s an exploration of isolation, survival, and the dark, untamed history that lingers beneath the surface of the southern landscape. When we set out to create this project, the goal was to strip away the noise of modern horror and lean into a raw, atmospheric dread that grips you by the throat and refuses to let go. The swamp isn't merely a backdrop; it is a living, breathing character that watches, waits, and consumes.
At its core, Blood in the Bayou follows characters pushed to the absolute edge when an ordinary escape spirals into a psychological and physical nightmare. We wanted to tell a story where the threat is relentless, the stakes are absolute, and every shadow feels like a closing trap. It’s a relentless dive into fear, crafted to keep audiences guessing and gasping until the very last frame.
