Director's Statement:
Welcome to Bloodlines, a series that explores the complex and often difficult history of Richmond, Virginia. Our story takes a hard look at the impact of generational racism on the present, and how it continues to shape our society today.
As filmmakers, we wanted to create a project that would bring together a diverse group of people to collaborate on a unique and powerful piece of visual storytelling. Bloodlines is the result of a partnership between high school students, freelance filmmakers, and Cadence Cinema Film & TV.
Our primary goal was to empower everyone involved in the project, including the students, cast, and crew, to engage with the art of filmmaking and explore their own relationship to narrative storytelling. Through Bloodlines, we hope to shed light on the rich, and sometimes dark history of Richmond, and the way it continues to affect the lives of those who live there.
By combining elements of horror and coming-of-age genres, we've crafted a story that weaves together the wounds of the past with the struggles of young people trying to find their place in the world. Our hope is that Bloodlines will be a powerful and thought-provoking series that encourages audiences to confront the difficult truths about our society and the communities we live in.
