By Yourself is a psychological horror that started from one of my nightmares. Help me get this film made so it can crawl into yours.
EXISTENTIAL TERROR
By Yourself taps into the fear of self. When we strip away all distractions, we’re forced to confront ourselves and feel the full weight of being conscious and alone.
THE WOODS
The isolated, remote setting contrasts our main character Syl's chronically-online experience, at first providing a sense of peace before becoming a frightening hellscape that brings her existence into terrifying perspective.

THE UNCANNY
By Yourself dips into the uncanny valley to evoke feelings of dread and revulsion. Turning the familiar strange shakes Syl's sense of identity--and ours.
Between my own experience, my fascination with Jungian archetypes, and my undying love for horror, By Yourself is the film I feel compelled to make...
...but I can't do it by myself.
WHY I NEED YOU
Making a film--even a short one--is a mammoth task that typically requires a highly specialized team of creatives. As the writer, director, and future editor of this project, my job is to steer the ship and communicate my vision clearly to the cast and crew throughout the stages of production, but it's their talent, expertise, creativity, and hard work that will really bring this nightmare to life. And I need to pay them! That's where you come in.
By backing this campaign, you become a vital part of this film and, in a sense, the indie film community. Your contrbution will help ensure every actor and crew member is paid for their work and given access to the materials and equipment they need to make this thing happen. I am not asking anyone to work on the film without pay except for myself and my producers.
WHERE WE'RE AT
By Yourself is in the late stages of pre-production with the plan to raise funds by mid-March and shoot in late April. We are working hard to fill cast and crew roles, and have just recently announced our lead actress! DRUM ROLLLLLL...
We are honored and incredibly lucky to have talented multi-hyphenate Zelda Adams in the lead role of "Syl"! Zelda was born into the world of horror. It's in her blood. The highly accomplished artist has been operating the camera since she was nine years old, collaborating on films with her father, mother, and sister, such as Hellbender (2021) and this year's Mother of Flies. In addition to directing, writing, acting, and making music (the Adams Family shreds together as H6LLB6ND6R and scores their own films), Zelda is also a photographer and a professional model who has starred in campaigns for major luxury houses and graced many magazine covers. As versatile as she is, Zelda's creativity is deeply rooted in horror, a space in which she finds powerful artistic freedom.
In addition to casting Zelda, we've filled many key roles in our crew and remaining cast. Check our "Team" page for more updates!
WHERE WE'RE GOING
Once you give By Yourself the greenlight (yes, you!), I will lock in cast and crew with contracts and initial payments, schedule the shoot and obtain all necessary permits, insurance, and equipment rentals. This campaign will cover all of our production needs and post-budget needs as well.
If we reach funding in time, we plan to shoot over 2 days in April and move immediately into post-production. Once the film is finished, we will begin to submit to festivals. If you contribute at the "FIRST CUT" level and up, you can expect to see the earliest cut of the film in the summer. Those who contribute at the "PEEKER" level and up will get an exclusive online link once the film has had its festival premiere (est. Fall 2026).
If we exceed our fundraising goal (!!!), our stretch goals are as follows:
1) hire a swing!
2) increase the budget for SFX and Hair/Makeup
3) add a marketing budget
4) increase the budget for our festival run (submissions, travel costs)
