The Story
The “California Fever” visual EP is a short film of four music videos by Korean American musician Namira.
The short film reimagines the four songs from her debut EP “California Fever" as memories of classic movies and music videos — as if set in the present day throughout DTLA and Chinatown, Los Angeles.
Track #1: Forever
Namira sings at the Chinatown, Los Angeles Metro station with her folk band for tips.
She then dances with her friends in Los Angeles State Historic Park at sunset.
Homage to: “Pierrot le Fou,” Hollywood musicals, Disney Renaissance classics, Rihanna, Lana Del Rey.
Track #2: One of These Days
Namira wanders around DTLA and Chinatown, Los Angeles, with a dialer phone, wearing a 1960’s style Hong Kongese cheongsam.
Homage to: "In the Mood for Love."
Track #3: California Fever (Title Track)
Namira has three fever dreams. In the first dream, she hallucinates while singing on stage.
In the second dream, she floats across a surreal ocean of light and color.
In the third dream, she finds herself tasked with saving a mythical yellow bird from captivity in an animated sequence.

Track #4: Come with Me
Namira decides to leave behind the world she knows and follow her heart. Filmed on Bunker Hill, Los Angeles and El Matador Beach, Malibu.

Who is the artist?
Namira is a Korean American musician based in Los Angeles, reviving classic songs in modern dance music.
As a child, Namira won an international piano competition and performed in the prize ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. She took a detour from music to graduate from Stanford and carve out a career in consulting (McKinsey), media (COO of Series A startup), and Big Tech (Meta).
As a young woman, Namira lived in Dubai, Mauritius, New York City, Seoul, and Los Angeles. But in recent years, she became increasingly frustrated by the lack of new songs that appealed to her as a modern, independent woman.
She wanted music that was romantic, danceable, and pop. She disliked music that was AI, grotesque, or insincere.
So Namira left her job at Meta to make the music she needed.

Her debut EP "California Fever" traces the emotional rollercoaster of following your heart in four songs:
1. "Forever" - a ballad of falling in love and wondering if you're loved in return
2. "One of These Days" - a strophic form of resisting your true desires
3. "California Fever" - a folk song of ultimately deciding to follow your heart
4. "Come with Me" - an anthemic finale asking others to come on the journey
Now Namira is turning this EP into a short film: "California Fever - Visual EP."
Why make this visual EP?
Namira asked herself this question multiple times during the marathon process of bringing this EP to life.
Four drivers fueled her perseverance:
1. To revive the spirit of 60’s counterculture
Namira’s mother was an original Seoul mod girl who moved to New York City to chase the spirit of American counterculture. In light of America’s cultural reversion to the 50’s, Namira wanted to reawaken the soul of the 60’s.
2. To celebrate the 21st century modern woman
Namira felt that women like her weren't represented in the music industry – modern, educated, romantic. She wanted to show the world of these women through music videos that everyone could enjoy.
3. To share a new point of view from the Asian American experience
Namira felt the Asian American experience was often pigeonholed in relation to white mainstream culture.
She wanted to explore the themes that bind the Asian experience with all Americans – the desire to be safe, to be loved, and to be free in a country that doesn't always keep its promises.
4. To share her version of Los Angeles with the world
Namira felt the Los Angeles she saw on screen didn't reflect the city she loved. She wanted to share her favorite places and show the world a new side of the city.
Who will watch this visual EP?
We were also curious. So we made a visualizer for social media to test the concept first.
We used b-roll from the music video for "Track 1: Forever" and edited it in the style of the French New Wave movie "Pierrot le Fou."
The visualizers reached +3M views on Instagram and TikTok:
Namira realized these could be more than just visualizers. There was an opportunity to bring the world of the EP to life and reimagine Los Angeles, women, and Asian Americans through a new lens.
What will the crowdfunding be used for?
We have wrapped production on all live footage for the music videos. Animation of the dream sequence is currently in progress.
We are raising funds to cover the cost of post-production.
When will the visual EP be released?
We are targeting a release date of Thursday, February 18, 2027.

About the artist
Namira is a Korean American DJ and singer-songwriter reviving classic songs in modern dance music. Rooted in pop EDM of the 2010’s, her sound incorporates elements of indie, rock, hip-hop, reggaeton, and folk music from around the world in innovative ways. Drawing on her background as a classical-pianist-turned-DJ, Namira is not afraid to experiment with popular dance music as an art form while celebrating the underground roots of EDM as a safe space to find joy.
Born and raised in New England, Namira was recognized as a music prodigy when she won an international piano competition and performed in the prize ceremony at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. She took a detour from music to pursue her education, graduating from Phillips Academy Andover and receiving a degree in literature from Stanford University.
Namira started her career in consulting and tech, living in Dubai, Mauritius, New York City, and Seoul before settling in Los Angeles. Frustrated by the lack of new music catering to modern professional women, Namira began writing the songs she wanted to hear on the radio and dance floor. She was selected for the 2024 ADE x shesaid.so program to increase female representation in EDM and left her role at Meta to pursue music full-time that year.
About Stereo Embassy
Namira founded the startup record label Stereo Embassy to support her growth from a 0 to 1 artist. Since then, the label has grown from an initial focus on EDM to simply: music that brings people together. Based in Los Angeles, the label has expanded into producing events and supporting visual direction for musical artists.
