The Story
Harlow, a young nomad, lands in a small town with an unbearable secret. Alone and stranded, she befriends the local Reverend's kids—Monday and Cay—whose skepticism paves way for friendship and for the first time, hope feels within reach. But when Harlow gets caught in the middle of an accident, her past comes to light and the whole town put in danger.
Desperate to bury the tragedies that haunt her, Harlow must decide who she will become when everyone's secrets come to light—including hers.
IT'S KINDA LIKE IF JENNIFER LAWRENCE IN WINTER'S BONE MET MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY'S MUD MET FOR MORNIN' PRAYER.
Think dark, A24-adjacent visuals with intentionally shot scenes, honest performance from breakout talent, and a hometown touch as we're filming everything in our native towns across central Ohio.
Some of the work that inspired us: Winter's Bone (2010), Mud (2012), Ozark (2017-2022), Where The Crawdad's Sing (2022), Train Dreams (2025).
BEFORE READING ON, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY KNOW...
This isn't your mother's Christian film.
Movies that focus on faith often fall flat, and usually don't talk honestly about real world problems facing people today. Not to mention, sometimes these films feel like they are preaching to the choir rather than welcoming everyone to the table.
Our goal is to make films that challenges the church-goer, and spark conversation around faith to all who watch.
Especially in our world today there are many issues that demand a faithful response:
- how do we treat our neighbors despite our differences?
- what does it look like to care for the "other"?
- how do we wrestle with our demons and make peace with our past?
- how do we shed stigmas around mental health issues like PTSD?
- how do we find our true identity in a world that tells us who to be?
These questions lead us to write this feature film: Call Me Harlow.
HIGH-CALIBER FILMMAKING, FROM A HUSBAND AND WIFE DUO.
Making a feature film is not a project we take lightly.
We got lucky enough to find a creative partner in one another—Ian being an actor/DP/writer/director, and India being a marketing pro/photographer/actress/storyteller.
Together, we've become a creative force and bring our dynamic expertise to every project we pursue.
And here are just some of the amazing things we've worked on...
- Vial (AWARD WINNER, Columbus 48hr Film Project, 2025) short | Ian - Writer/DP, India - Director
- Lifesource (AWARD WINNER, Columbus 48hr Film Project, 2022) short | Ian - Writer/Director, India - Actress
- Grief Share (NOMINEE, ICFF, 2024) feature film | Ian - Actor, India - Actress & BTS photography
- Small Town Christmas (Up Faith & Family, Season 1&2) | Ian - Director of Photography | India - 3rd cam op
- Here Comes Saturday Night (NBC Sports) | Production Assistants
After over 10 years of industry experience behind and in front of the camera, we are ready to dive headfirst into our own feature film. But the thing is? It's not just about us. It's about the village we build along the way.

One thing about our sets is that we want to cultivate an atmosphere of excellence (while having a blast while doing it!!). We bring on professionals and breakout talent to provide new opportunities while also raising the standard for indie filmmaking every. single. time.
No one is too important on set to grab a coffee, or too new to pitch an idea. We want to attract servant leaders and to be servant leaders, always.
AND OUR TALENT?? Yeah, pretty top-notch.

BUDGET BREAKDOWN....
Cast & Crew ($4,000): We want to pay our leading cast & crew for their time. While a lot of talent will be volunteering their time, we want to take care of everyone as much as we can. At this current budget, we have just what we need, but we have a stretch goal of $10,000 to allow us to thank everyone financially and support the local arts scene right here in the midwest.
⭐️Stretch goal ⭐️: While most of our talent is local, with late nights and early call times, some cast and crew will be further from home than usual. As much as we can rely on our community to house talent, extra funds would be a huge blessing to cover hotels, rental cars, lodging, and any accommodations for our cast and crew.
Crafty ($8,000): Everyone eats. PERIOD. With some days on set spanning up to 12hrs, and anywhere from 10-25 cast and crew to feed daily, we want to make sure nourishment is a priority. Healthy meals, coffee, and snacks will keep us all running during production.
Equipment & Gear ($1,500): We are SO blessed to have loaded up our arsenal full of hollywood-grade film gear over the years. While gear need may come up, our main cameras, lights and essentials are covered. This small budget will be allocated towards advanced audio gear (essential to any film!) and gear rentals as needed.
Props & Wardrobe ($1,500): Boats, bikes, and vital props that add to the scene are vital to the story! We will thrift and borrow as much as we can as well. Any leads are welcome as well as stretch donations to cover unexpected costs in this category.
Location Permits & Transportation ($1,000): Getting around town, gas, rental gear vans, and location permit application fees, the works!
Digital Storage Hardware, Assets & Editing Software ($2,000): Hard drive systems, scheduling and editing software, and everything to manage our files properly to ensure a smooth post-production.
Local Premiere ($1,000): Hosting a local premiere is vital to us! We want to offer an invitation to everyone who had a hand in making this film happen the chance to see their work on a big screen with their loved ones. We hope to bring together local businesses, sponsors, and volunteers to offset the cost of this, but shine a light on the story and the talent that made it all happen.
⭐️Stretch goal ⭐️: A local premiere in Columbus, Ohio is a must for us! But even better? Taking this film to premiere in multiple cities! Think red carpet photo ops, local news channels, a film screening for guests, local restaurants bites, small business giveaways, cast appearances and director Q&A's in your city. With that, our stretch goal is $10,000 to work with your town and premiere Call Me Harlow to your community.
Festival Submissions & Distribution ($6,000): We don't want to just make a movie, we want people to see it! We hope to submit to the film festivals on all levels, local, national, and international film festivals, and need this section of the budget to cover submission fees.
⭐️Stretch goal ⭐️: While we are eager to talk distribution, an ideal distribution budget can get wildly expensive. The dream financial goal for this would be north of $150,000, so any additional budget raised will be set aside for this! We do intend on submitting to Kappa Studios for a custom distribution plan to get this film a theatrical release! If accepted, we may re-launch a campaign for additional funding.
Misc. Fees & Overhead Costs ($4,000): Unfortunately, things happen. Last minute cast changes, broken gear, the cost of eggs...This is our safety net for unforeseen expenses to keep the production on track and on budget! And we know we'll spend every (discontinued) penny of it.
WE CAN DO THIS!!! BUT ONLY WITH YOUR HELP.
Our dreams can only get us so far. You can help us make them a reality.
Right now the story of Call Me Harlow has:
- all the necessary film gear (team BlackMagic x Sony!)
- a fully developed script
- key crew positions locked in
- our wickedly talented lead cast
- a creative community eager to support the project
- and over 13,000 people just waiting to watch!
The demand for thought-provoking, faith-inspired indie films is here. Will you help make it happen?
