Now, as we push further into our crowdfund, we're looking to expand the scope of our project. While we were initially fundraising just for production, additional donations contributed will go towards the post-production and distribution of Canis Lupus!
If you have questions, check out the information below, and reach out to us @canislupus.film and to our production company, @tarot77entertainment.
Adult Ren provides a Victim Impact Statement during a parole board hearing for his older brother, Paul.
Ren first recounts childhood memories of growing up with his brother, Paul, in their family’s isolated hunting lodge, followed by the tale of how his idolized image of Paul crumbled as they integrated into the larger world.
On their final hunt together, Paul violently wounds Ren. Ren must now decide whether he thinks Paul should be released on parole, or if he can ever forgive him.

"Canis Lupus" is a very special film to me. As a sibling myself, I've found that media depictions of the complicated love between siblings are rare, and I wanted to tell my own.
I hold Ren's character very close to my heart. Despite being hurt by his older brother, he desperately wants to see the best in the person he loves. I wanted to tell a story about forgiveness without judgment of how we "should" or "shouldn't" feel because, in reality, it's the human condition to want to forgive our loved ones who hurt us.
I'm so excited to bring this film to life finally, and I'm so lucky to be making it with such a talented group of producers. I'm infinitely grateful to anyone who supports this film, and cannot wait to make it happen."
Victoria Capitano
Writer/Director, Canis Lupus

Tone - Our storytelling approach is reflective and somber, visually drawing inspiration from films like Days of Heaven & Stand By Me, alongside Tarkovsky's polaroids.
Approach - We reflect our somber and reflective storytelling tone with our approach. Our production process is oriented around providing a safe space for collaborators to tell a story that deeply affects so many of those around us. By keeping our crew and cast constantly informed, renting only non-firing prop weapons handled by a safety expert, and fostering an collaborative dialogue with our team, we know that the production will achieve it's technical goals.

CHARACTER BIOS

Young Ren is meek, malleable, and worships his older brother Paul. He blends in to keep himself safe, passive.
Adult Ren grapples with his haunted past as he increases his agency, yet remains defensive of his brother and passive.

Young Paul is an excellent hunter, meticulous and outdoorsy. Unfortunately, his personality leaves him unsociable, angry, and violent.
Adult Paul is as much a mystery to us as he is to Ren.

We hope to raise our goal of $2,000 to fund the essential components of production. We are incredibly eager filmmakers coming from diverse film , cultural, and familial backgrounds, all united in telling this story of siblings.
Principal photography is scheduled for October 18-20 & 25-27, 2024. Shooting will take place in Boston, MA and Plymouth, MA.
Stay Up to Date!
