🇬🇧 My name is Harry Bracho. I was born and raised in Caracas. For many years now, my home has been defined by political, societal and economical turmoil. But behind the headlines in the news are the people—vibrant, resilient, and deeply human.

🇻🇪 Me llamo Harry Bracho. Nací y crecí en Caracas. Durante muchos años ya, mi hogar se ha visto marcado por la agitación política, social y económica. Pero detrás de los titulares en los medios se encuentra la gente: vibrante, luchadora y profundamente humana.
The Film
🇬🇧 Caracas is a neo-realist drama that follows two souls at the opposite ends of the social spectrum:
- María, a mother and lottery ticket seller, standing under a relentless sun at the same traffic light every day, working for children she no longer sees.
- Maikel, a malandro (street criminal) weaving through the city on his motorcycle, surviving through theft.
When their paths cross at a street corner, the film pauses. For one week, they find a rare and precious respite. In a world that offers them nothing, they find hope.

- María, una madre y vendedora de lotería, que se encuentra todos los días bajo un sol inclemente en el mismo semáforo, trabajando para unos hijos a los que ya no ve.
- Maikel, un malandro que se abre paso por la ciudad en su motocicleta, sobreviviendo gracias al robo.
Cuando sus caminos se cruzan en una esquina, la película se detiene. Durante una semana, encuentran un respiro raro y precioso. En un mundo que no les ofrece nada, encuentran esperanza.
Our Approach: Realism & Poetry
🇬🇧 This film is my tribute to the masters of Italian Neo-realism— the likes of Rossellini, De Sica, Visconti... To capture the true pulse of Venezuela, we used a mix of professional actors and non-professional locals, allowing for improvisation and authenticity. And we also delve in the territory of experimental cinema to bring forth a very particular point of view of the city of Caracas.
Elements in the film:
- A Naturalist Lens: Static, contemplative shots that respect the dignity of our characters.
- An Altered Vision: Experimental 16mm sequences that capture Maikel’s distorted, dreamlike point of view as he conquers the city on two wheels.
- Sonic Authenticity: A soundscape built from the actual recordings of Caracas, processed through electroacoustic techniques to create a haunting, immersive experience which is inspired by the musique concrète, pioneered by the likes of Pierre Schaeffer.
🇻🇪 Este film es mi homenaje a los maestros del neorrealismo italiano, como Rossellini, De Sica, Visconti... Para capturar el verdadero pulso de Venezuela, utilizamos una mezcla de actores profesionales y locales no profesionales, permitiendo la improvisación y la autenticidad. Y también nos adentramos en el territorio del cine experimental para ofrecer un punto de vista muy particular de la ciudad de Caracas.
Elementos en el film:
- Un lente naturalista: tomas estáticas y contemplativas que respetan la dignidad de nuestros personajes.
- Una visión alterada: secuencias experimentales en 16 mm que capturan el punto de vista distorsionado y onírico de Maikel mientras conquista la ciudad sobre dos ruedas.
- Autenticidad sonora: un paisaje sonoro construido a partir de grabaciones reales de Caracas, procesadas mediante técnicas electroacústicas para crear una experiencia inquietante y envolvente inspirada en la musique concrète, iniciada y promovida por personas como Pierre Schaeffer.
Why This Story Matters Now
🇬🇧 In a country where life has become increasingly difficult, telling stories like María and Maikel's is both imperative and urgent.
In every corner of Caracas, there is someone like María struggling to get by, to provide for her family—in a country that leaves her very little room to thrive and dream. The same is true of Maikel, a street delinquent whose destiny offers limited room for manoeuvre, in a society that gives few opportunities and alternative to dream (oneself) differently.
The tragedy of the malandro is often seen as inevitable, but in Caracas we want to ask ourselves why. By focusing on the decisions made under the pressure of economic hardship, we aim to provoke a reflection on the lives of the most destitute.
Caracas is a complex story, but not a desperate one. It is a sincere portrait of my country, which seeks a future that is more equal, more just, and more kind.
🇻🇪 En un país donde la vida se ha vuelto cada vez más cuesta arriba, contar historias como la de María y Maikel se vuelve ineludible y urgente.
En cada esquina de Caracas existe alguien como María que lucha por salir adelante, por proveer para los suyos, en un país que le deja muy poco espacio para avanzar y soñar. Lo mismo de Maikel, un malandro cuyo destino alberga un rango limitado de maniobra, en una sociedad que ofrece pocas oportunidades y alternativa para soñar(se) diferente.
La tragedia del malandro es muchas veces vista como inevitable, pero en Caracas queremos preguntarnos por qué. Al centrarnos en las decisiones que se toman bajo la presión de las dificultades económicas, pretendemos provocar una reflexión sobre la vida de los más desfavorecidos.
Caracas es una historia compleja, pero no desesperada. Es un retrato sincero de mi país, que busca un futuro más igualitario, más justo y más amable.

About This Team
Harry Bracho / Screenwriter - Director
🇬🇧 Born in Caracas and raised between Paris, Mexico City, and London, Harry is a filmmaker whose work explores the intersection of reality and poetry. After studying at UCAB in Venezuela and earning a distinction from the London Film School, he moved to Paris to research Venezuelan realism at University Paris 8. His filmography includes Bird Songs from Amazonia and Bea. From 2020 to 2024, Harry led the streaming platform guayaba.film, championing Latin American cinema across two continents. Currently based between Paris and Switzerland, he is finishing his short film Caracas and developing the docuseries Profession: Artiste, focusing on Latin American visual artists in Paris.
🇻🇪 Nacido en Caracas y criado entre París, Ciudad de México y Londres, Harry es un cineasta cuya obra explora la intersección entre la realidad y la poesía. Tras formarse en la UCAB en Venezuela y obtener una mención honorífica (distinction) en la London Film School, se trasladó a París para investigar el realismo venezolano en la Universidad de París 8. Su filmografía incluye títulos como Bird Songs from Amazonia y Bea. Entre 2020 y 2024, Harry estuvo al frente de la plataforma de streaming guayaba.film, impulsando el cine latinoamericano en dos continentes. Actualmente, radicado entre París y Suiza, se encuentra finalizando su cortometraje Caracas y desarrollando la docuserie Profession: Artiste, centrada en artistas latinoamericanos en París.
Wilhelm Kuhn / Producer (France) - Sunhour Films
🇬🇧 Wilhelm is a French filmmaker who was born and raised in Paris and a graduate of the London Film School. He has shot a variety of short films across the world including Mtoto Wangu, Check Please!, Bea, The White Stuff and Brutta Figura. As a producer, he runs the production company Sunhour Films based between Paris & NYC. He is also the executive director of Lighthouse International Film Festival and teaches film history and film directing at the Montclair Film Institute in New Jersey.
🇻🇪 Wilhelm es un cineasta francés nacido y criado en París, egresado de la London Film School. Ha rodado diversos cortometrajes alrededor del mundo, entre los que destacan Mtoto Wangu, Check Please!, Bea, The White Stuff y Brutta Figura. 🇬🇧 His professional career began 25 years ago in his native Venezuela. In 2011, he founded Tres Cinematografía, which has gained national and international recognition, consolidating Torres as one of the country's most prominent producers. His credits include films such as Point Break (Ericson Core, 2015), El Father Plays Himself (Mo Scarpelli, 2020), La caja (Lorenzo Vigas, 2021), Riders (Martín Rejtman, 2024), Dirección Opuesta (Alejandro Bellame, 2020), Free Color (Alberto Arvelo, 2020), Érase una vez en Venezuela (Anabel Rodríguez, 2020) and Casas Muertas (Rosana Matecki, 2025).
Joe is currently in post-production for his second narrative short film as director, El mismo Sol sobre las mismas cosas, and in production for his debut narrative feature film, De aquí se fueron a la Luna, written by Ricardo Hernández Anzola.

Amneris Treco / Lead Actress playing María
🇬🇧 A graduate of the National Theater Workshop (RAJATABLA), she has extensive experience in stage performance. Her film career includes several national productions, most notably Dirección Opuesta by Alejandro Bellame and Tango Bar by Gibelys Coronado, among others. In 2025, she was honored with the Best Supporting Actress Award by the Venezuelan National Cinematheque Awards for her portrayal of "La Gringa" in Tango Bar.
🇻🇪 Egresada del Taller Nacional de Teatro (RAJATABLA), tiene extensa experiencia en teatro. Ha participado en varias películas de producción nacional como Dirección opuesta de Alejandro Bellame y Tango bar de Gibelys Coronado entre otras. Premio a mejor actriz de reparto en el 2025 en los premios de la Cinemateca Nacional por su interpretación de "La Gringa" en Tango Bar.

🇬🇧 After completing a degree in Instrumental Performance at the University of the Arts in Caracas, he moved to France in 2009 to further develop his improvisational practice and musical language—first through jazz at the Bill Evans Piano Academy, then through projects bridging Latin American roots with contemporary creation. As a musician, he plays in bands like Insólito Universo and Raúl Monsalve y los Forajidos. And in recent years, his work has increasingly focused on contemporary sound creation, including film scoring, sound design for installations, and immersive audio environments for guided meditative experiences.
🇻🇪 Tras obtener su licenciatura en Interpretación Instrumental en la Universidad de las Artes (UNEARTE) en Caracas, se trasladó a Francia en 2009 para profundizar en su práctica de la improvisación y lenguaje musical; primero a través del jazz en la Bill Evans Piano Academy y, posteriormente, mediante proyectos que vinculan las raíces latinoamericanas con la creación contemporánea. Como músico, toca en bandas como Insólito Universo y Raúl Monsalve y los Forajidos. Harry Bracho / Screenwriter - Director
🇬🇧 Born in Caracas and raised between Paris, Mexico City, and London, Harry is a filmmaker whose work explores the intersection of reality and poetry. After studying at UCAB in Venezuela and earning a distinction from the London Film School, he moved to Paris to research Venezuelan realism at University Paris 8. His filmography includes Bird Songs from Amazonia and Bea. From 2020 to 2024, Harry led the streaming platform guayaba.film, championing Latin American cinema across two continents. Currently based between Paris and Switzerland, he is finishing his short film Caracas and developing the docuseries Profession: Artiste, focusing on Latin American visual artists in Paris.
🇻🇪 Nacido en Caracas y criado entre París, Ciudad de México y Londres, Harry es un cineasta cuya obra explora la intersección entre la realidad y la poesía. Tras formarse en la UCAB en Venezuela y obtener una mención honorífica (distinction) en la London Film School, se trasladó a París para investigar el realismo venezolano en la Universidad de París 8. Su filmografía incluye títulos como Bird Songs from Amazonia y Bea. Entre 2020 y 2024, Harry estuvo al frente de la plataforma de streaming guayaba.film, impulsando el cine latinoamericano en dos continentes. Actualmente, radicado entre París y Suiza, se encuentra finalizando su cortometraje Caracas y desarrollando la docuserie Profession: Artiste, centrada en artistas latinoamericanos en París.
Wilhelm Kuhn / Producer (France) - Sunhour Films
🇬🇧 Wilhelm is a French filmmaker who was born and raised in Paris and a graduate of the London Film School. He has shot a variety of short films across the world including Mtoto Wangu, Check Please!, Bea, The White Stuff and Brutta Figura. As a producer, he runs the production company Sunhour Films based between Paris & NYC. He is also the executive director of Lighthouse International Film Festival and teaches film history and film directing at the Montclair Film Institute in New Jersey.

In 2011, he founded Tres Cinematografía, which has gained national and international recognition, consolidating Torres as one of the country's most prominent producers. His credits include films such as Point Break (Ericson Core, 2015), El Father Plays Himself (Mo Scarpelli, 2020), La caja (Lorenzo Vigas, 2021), Riders (Martín Rejtman, 2024), Dirección Opuesta (Alejandro Bellame, 2020), Free Color (Alberto Arvelo, 2020), Érase una vez en Venezuela (Anabel Rodríguez, 2020) and Casas Muertas (Rosana Matecki, 2025).
Joe is currently in post-production for his second narrative short film as director, El mismo Sol sobre las mismas cosas, and in production for his debut narrative feature film, De aquí se fueron a la Luna, written by Ricardo Hernández Anzola.

🇬🇧 A graduate of the National Theater Workshop (RAJATABLA), she has extensive experience in stage performance. Her film career includes several national productions, most notably Dirección Opuesta by Alejandro Bellame and Tango Bar by Gibelys Coronado, among others. In 2025, she was honored with the Best Supporting Actress Award by the Venezuelan National Cinematheque Awards for her portrayal of "La Gringa" in Tango Bar.

🇬🇧 After completing a degree in Instrumental Performance at the University of the Arts in Caracas, he moved to France in 2009 to further develop his improvisational practice and musical language—first through jazz at the Bill Evans Piano Academy, then through projects bridging Latin American roots with contemporary creation. As a musician, he plays in bands like Insólito Universo and Raúl Monsalve y los Forajidos. And in recent years, his work has increasingly focused on contemporary sound creation, including film scoring, sound design for installations, and immersive audio environments for guided meditative experiences.
🇻🇪 Tras obtener su licenciatura en Interpretación Instrumental en la Universidad de las Artes (UNEARTE) en Caracas, se trasladó a Francia en 2009 para profundizar en su práctica de la improvisación y lenguaje musical; primero a través del jazz en la Bill Evans Piano Academy y, posteriormente, mediante proyectos que vinculan las raíces latinoamericanas con la creación contemporánea. Como músico, toca en bandas como Insólito Universo y Raúl Monsalve y los Forajidos.
