Mission Statement

My mission is to expand the consciousness toward animals and how they can heal us, with a special focus on the feral, outdoor, stray cat communities. Rescuing a cat or a dog literally saves their life, and it saves yours too. The love you share is unlike any other and the bond is life-changing.

The Story

There are people who say: “it's only a cat (or a dog)” but anyone who knows the bond between animals and humans knows that this is a deep connection, physically, mentally, spiritually…

And this hot mess turned crazy cat lady, will take you on a “tail” of love, grief, recovery, self-discovery and lots of cats!

Cat Sh!t Crazy is an award-winning solo show written, performed and produced by Cindy D’Andrea. After successful runs at the Whitefire Solofest, Santa Monica Binge Fringe Festival and live stream, Cindy is pursuing her dream of taking the show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to share her story and help rescue some cats in the process.

THE STORY

A personal trainer, aspiring actor and seriously hot mess, Cindy has unresolved mommy issues, childhood trauma and makes horrible choices in men. On the verge of wanting to end her life, Cindy's best friend suggests she get a cat. 'A cat? I hate cats!' Four cats and fourteen years later, Cindy, now a blissful and obsessed cat owner and rescuer, experiences unconditional love for the first time. Then the unthinkable happens and all is lost. Can Cindy save the one who needs it most or stay in grief like a fur ball that won't let go?

This story and all of my solo shows came out of my love for writing, performing and especially my cats. As an actor for many years, I have struggled to get work. I was always studying and loved to be in class, but I wasn't as successful outside of class. In addition, I was making some bad choices in relationships, a pattern of mine, and was sinking deeper into depression and unworthiness. If I couldn't "fix" my boyfriends and if I couldn't do what I loved to do, I didn't really see any purpose to be here. And then, I adopted two kittens and the rest, as they say, is history.....sort of.....

                CAT RESCUE

After being a multi-cat owner, rescuer and volunteer in Los Angeles for over 20 years, this is my opportunity to reach out to fellow animal lovers so that we can work together to reduce the stray, feral and outdoor cat population and inspire people to take action by adopting a cat or getting involved in animal rescue.

My cats literally saved my life. So, wanting to honor them and the tireless animal rescuers out there, I began writing. Three solo shows later, my dream to perform Cat Sh!t Crazy all over the world, to educate while entertaining, and to give partial proceeds of each show toward saving our vulnerable cats, is on the verge of becoming a reality.

Edinburgh is the first step toward that dream.

             FESTIVAL AND COSTS

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the largest theater festival in the world. There are some 3000+ shows, so you can imagine the expense and work that goes into preparing for a show of this magnitude.

Here's the breakdown:

It will cost over $25,000 to perform my show at the Edinburgh Fringe for the month of August. This includes $5000 for the venue, $3500 for graphic design, print, advertising, and marketing, $5000 for living accommodations, $2000 for publicity, $1800 for tech operators, rehearsals, talent and so on…..

I have put in $15,000 of my money and savings so far...

My goal is to raise $10,000 so that I can cover the balance.

About This Team

As the producer of this project, I have had a lot to do and boy, has this been challenging! I am still building my team and here's who I am truly grateful for at this time:

Ann Noble(director)- Ann is my amazing director and friend. She first directed me in my 2020 livestream version of Cat Sh!t Crazy at the Santa Monica Binge Fringe Festival all via Zoom! Yes! We never met in person and it was a fantastic show! Finally, in 2022 we broke bread, in person and i'll tell you, these Taurus sisters, we stick together!! Ann is a brilliant writer, actor and director. She is compassionate, she is talented, she sees things that I don't see and I am so incredibly grateful that she is on this journey with me.

Lucy Swenson and Erin(graphic design) - Erin is my graphic designer. She swooped in when my previous graphic designer could no longer fulfill the job and she has done wonders for my posters and flyers for Edinburgh. This is everything, because no one knows me in Edinburgh- yet, so outdoor advertising as well as flyers and posters are a necessary part of the budget. They are going to see my face plastered on railings and walls and it needs to look good! Erin is fast and efficient and a great communicator.

Judith Ozkan(Edinburgh publicist)- Judith is my publicist who I hired because she actually watched all of my materials and was instantly excited about how to promote my show. What's great is she lives in Edinburgh, so she can see first hand and knows from experience what the festival requirements are and how to best pitch me and get me PR. She is also setting me up with podcast interviews in LA and Edinburgh. She's got 2 cats that I'm excited to meet when I get to Edinburgh!

Cynthia Shaw(web designer) - I met Cynthia via Zoom through Valorie Hubbard's Actors Fast Track coaching company. When i visited Edinburgh last year, i met her in person and got to see her wonderful show, Velvet Determination. We became instant friends and she has not only provided so much morale support, but she has revamped and designed my Cat Sh!t Crazy and acting website. Check it out here: https://cindydandrea.wixsite.com/cindy-d-andrea

Miles Berman (tech operator, Los Angeles) - Miles will be setting and running my tech for my LA show and helping me set up the Qlab and cue to transfer to Edinburgh. This is a very important part of working in different venues- being able to transfer the sound and lighting cues on different boards.

I hope to update this as we get closer to my performances in Los Angeles and then onto Edinburgh. Thank you!
