PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Set in the Bay area, buddy comedy CHUCHI AND ADALIZ is a five episode single-camera digital series that follows childhood best friends who, despite having a shared racial and ethnic identity as AfroPuerto Ricans, couldn’t be more different than each other as adults. When Adaliz loses her high powered corporate job in San Francisco and moves in with Chuchi in Oakland, the audience watches avatars of San Francisco (Adaliz) and Oakland (Chuchi) and how their socioeconomic differences shape behavior, as San Francisco is 54.4% more expensive to live in than Oakland. This project aims to showcase adult female friendships and how identity and socioeconomic status shapes those dynamics, while also adding a missing touchstone in the media landscape in relation to Latinx and Afrolatinx representation, one free of trauma porn and violence and instead highlighting a universal experience: friendship. Continuing its commitment to uplifting underrepresented communities, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and women compose the majority of the talent both in front of and behind the camera for this project.
MARKET RESEARCH
- The Think Tank for Inclusion and Equity found that Afrolatinx stories are missing from stories about Latinx people, and fair-skinned biracial stories are missing about Black people, an experience that’s highlighted in our main characters’ journeys. Duke University Psychologist Dr. Sarah Gaither researches biracial identity at length -- read her work here.
-
A 2019 Nielsen report found that “Latinx consumers spend approximately 29-1/2 hours weekly on TV and an additional 27 hours weekly on apps/websites via their smartphones.” Additionally, “Latinx buying power has risen from $213 billion in 1990 to $1.5 trillion in 2018; it is expected to rise to $1.9 trillion in 2023.” The Latinx community engages in media at a high rate but is grossly underrepresented. CHUCHI AND ADALIZ provides relevant content to an engaged consumer that tunes in regularly, a value proposition not just for the Latinx community but for the market at-large.
-
According to research by the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, 39% of women had speaking roles in comedies, and 4.9% of Latinx actors had speaking roles in films. CAA’s Diversity Study reported 5% of Latinx people as regular cast members. This series is primarily led by women and Latines, and our lead characters are Afrolatina.

SASHA FEILER BIO
Role: "LISA" (Works in publishing)
Half-Russian and half-Ukrainian, Sasha Feiler is the only funny person to ever come out of Siberia, and you’ll have to take her word for it since Siberia is the last place you’d want to visit.
She fled Siberia and came to New York at nineteen with $40 in her pocket. At some point, after her paperwork got messed up, she became an illegal immigrant. Which was super fun (it wasn’t).
She graduated Brooklyn College on a full Presidential Scholarship with an MFA in Television Production and worked as an Editor and Producer at CNN. She quickly realized there weren’t a lot of laughs at CNN so she quit and moved to Los Angeles where she started performing and writing on improv and sketch teams at UCB, iO West and Second City.
Besides acting and performing, Sasha teaches TV writing at Script Anatomy, hosts a comedy podcast Shut Up I Love It and trains her dogs to work in Film and Television. She is repped by Bellevue Management, you can find her on IG @shutupiloveit1.
