The Story
This short film is a story about family. What pulls us apart and brings us back together? The Fox family is a group of highly anxious characters, shaped by their dedications to privacy and keeping up appearances. The focus is on being "seen" but not "felt". When they reunite after the death of their patriarch, Granddady Fox, the truths they've been hiding from themselves and each other make their way to the surface.

Jared and Alexandria are intimately connected with this story and are uniquely prepared to tell it in authentic and specific ways. Being southern Black Americans pulling from our own experiences, we are excited to bring this narrative to life!
WHAT IS CICADAS?

WORLD
The entire film takes place in one location over a weekend. The hotel isn’t as nice as the family expected but is good enough for a meeting. Scenes take place in the interior hotel conference room and exterior parking lot of the hotel. The various characters will have moments of solitude shot outside.

FUNDRAISING
The process of shooting a production can be costly and we are hoping to fundraise to help us get through production and submit to film festivals. You will be playing a big part in making our vision a reality and ensuring that a high-quality product is made. The short is a proof of concept for what could be made into a larger production. We thank you in advance for all your support. We appreciate all of your support and funds beyond the initial scope will be used to develop and expand the short into a long-form story.
