Contemporary Mating Rituals is a look at the world of online dating and how the norms and customs have changed with the advent of dating apps. Maya ventures into the world of swiping, ghosting, and catfishing after a break up in this eight episode web series. Available Online November 2017.

About This Team

Mariyam Mahbub, Writer/Director: Born in Bangladesh, Mariyam Mahbub moved to the United States at the age of seven and her love affair with filmmaking began shortly thereafter. She is a prolific filmmaker with a varied portfolio of projects and often wears multiple hats including writer, director, and producer. She recently associate produced her first feature film, 20 Weeks, which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival in June 2017.

 

Howard Johnson, Producer: Howard Johnson is an East Coast transplant who found his niche as a film producer during his time at Loyola Marymount University. His thesis film Black and Yellow was nominated for a faculty award at the University’s Film Outside The Frame festival and he most recently wrapped production on 20 Weeks as the feature’s Production Manager. Howard has produced several short films which have screened at festivals such as Palm Springs Shorts Fest and Miami International Women's Film Festival. His most recent short film, Night Shift is premiered at Sundance Film Festival this year.

 

Daud Sani, Director of photography: Born in Pakistan and raised in the US, Daud Sani brings a personal touch to everything he shoots. With a bachelor's degree in film, Daud has shot short films, commercials, music video, Bio features, and reality content for networks such as Style, PBS, E!, and Bravo. Passion for telling stories in the visual medium helps Daud strive to cultivate his talent while always looking for innovation in an ever-progressing film industry.
