The Story
Oh, hello!
Oh hey it's me, Ian - writer/director of Corner Store.
Before we dive into details, we think the proof-of-concept we made gives you a really good taste of what we are planning to film with our full feature. It's designed to leave you wanting more! #hopeitworks
Proof of Concept - Corner Store
Oh, hello, again!
Okay - you watched it and you loved it, obviously. Here's some background. That's me, working at The Neon in 2016. It was Halloween (I hope).

What is Corner Store?
The idea for Corner Store sparked from my time working at The Neon from 2015-2017. I had just moved home from college knowing I wanted to do ---something--- in film but not quite sure how to get there. So I took a job at my local movie theatre. Film adjacent. Free movies. Hopefully not too hard. What I didn't expect was that two years to change the course of my life. It was there, with the help of The Neon family I found, that I discovered my true passion and creative spark that eventually lead me to writing this.

Corner Store is about exactly that -- the families that you find and how they shape you into the person you are today. It's about the mundane jobs we take during the in-between phases of life that end up being instrumental into discovering who you are.

We All Have that one Special Place
It's story will celebrate the small moments that lead to big dreams. It's a story about home. Your home. That community center, gym, playground, or movie theatre that welcomes everyone and is always there when you need it.
It's love letter to Dayton—a city whose streets, landmarks, and people form the very backbone of our film. Supporting this project means championing a high-value cultural project that celebrates the a community. By supporting this film, you aren't just helping us make a movie; you're helping us put Dayton's spirit on screen.
And stories like this cannot be made without YOU!
Independent Film is Made by Community
Why is it called Corner Store?
Ha! Artists (me, Ian) always have their reasons.
What will the funds be used for?
Our Seed & Spark support will be used for a few specific things:
1) Location Fee - in order for us to film at The Neon, we have to close The Neon. And we want to make sure they don't lose business because of our filming. The location fee listed helps make sure we support The Neon while they give us their space to film!
2) Crew Travel Expenses - we plan to use as much cast and crew as we can from the local Dayton arts community but it's a given that we'll have to travel in some incredible talent from other parts of the country. Funds will be used to help cover travel and accommodation costs.
