Re: Corporately Challenged
Dear Funny People,
No. This isn't a memo about adhering to break times, limiting the number of copies you make or executive parking spots. It's a helpful memo (imagine that?) to introduce Corporately Challenged, a new comedic series created by Shannon Phipps and Caitlin Carleton.
What's it About? This series follows Sara, a somewhat-recent college grad, as she navigates the world of corporate America. The lessons she learns from her co-workers (the obsessive, the nerd, the sleaze and her powerless boss) will leave you squirting Dr. Pepper out of your nose...if you're drinking DP, that is.
We chose corporate America as our backdrop because Shannon spent so many years doing time in that exact scenario. It really doesn't matter whether you've worked for a Fortune 500 company or Pete's Auto Sales, people are people and you will be able to identify every quirky character from your own life in this series. And that's how we connect with you, through shared experiences and stereotyping.
Why Us? We, Shannon and Caitlin, met through a filmmaker's support group. We hit it off immediately and found that we had a lot in common. We both loved to create. We were both trying really hard to get work and we were both getting nowhere fast. So, we decided to pull our crafts together (screenwriting/directing/acting/producing) and make our own path, through the entertainment weeds, to production success. Shannon used her past corporate experience to write a hysterical series that she will also direct. Caitlin used her producing powers to begin developing the series and will use her stellar acting skills to bring the lead character, Sara, to life.
Why you, you ask? Why not you, is the better question! If I know you, you want to help an amazingly talented group of women achieve comedy success, giving you content that leaves your stomach sore from laughing, right? Right! So get in now, and be a ground-level supporter!
And let’s face it, you need a pet project that makes you laugh a little. Turning the tragedy of work into a comedy is not cheap. State-of-the-art equipment, experienced artists and an actual office means we’ll need to raise $20,000. So, jump on board and let’s make this thing, together!

About This Team
Our clever writer, Shannon Phipps, has been writing screenplays since 2003. She completed the Gotham Writer's Workshop courses, Screenwriting I & II and attended the Screenwriter’s/Story Expo and Pitchfest where she learned from some of the best in the business. She currently co-writes MOW's with a WGA writer.
The fabulous Caitlin Carleton has been performing on stage and screen for 12 years. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Caitlin fell in love with performing at a very young age, putting on plays in her back yard and making movies with friends. Since then, she's come a long way on both the stage, playing Ginger in Rosemary with Ginger, Ellen in Eastern Standard and Helena in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and on the screen, playing the hilarious Helen in comedic series This Web Series and appearing in Unconscionable and Asphalt Angels.
Our amazing S&S video editor, Tana Akers, has loved film since she can remember. She was part of a student led video production group, shooting and editing projects ranging from live musical performances to event promotional videos. She currently works in production for Advisors Excel where she films and edits video for financial advisors telling their stories. Her passion is working on short films and motion graphics in both 2D/3D animation.
Keeping us energized and promoted is our brilliant social media strategist, Jami Stephens. This girl is a certified Social Marketer who's passionate about helping self-employed entities, like filmmakers, get the most out of their time in the digital world. Her mission is to guide those she works with, so they can most effectively and efficiently reach and expand their target audience.
