Mission Statement

Corridor comes from our feelings as people have become more and more polarized and unable to see the humanity in each other. The Caper is a fun way to explore this idea, because the genre thrives on anxiety, paranoia, and mistaken identity while still having room for humor and heart.

The Story

****STRETCH GOAL****

The road to finishing an indie film is a long one, and we can still use more support. That is why we are launching a stretch goal of $22,000. That additional $2000 will specifically go to making one of our biggest set pieces remaining as true to our original visions as possible.

Meet Gordon Hawkins - his lack of success in life has turned him cynical and he now coasts by as an overnight security guard, much to the protest of his wife Terri who thinks he can do more.

One night he is assigned to a new building and is suddenly given his chance to seize the day when he witnesses an event he believes is part of a corporate murder scheme. From there our story explodes, following an ensemble of night owls as their stories criss cross and bounce off each other.

  • STERLING PHILLIPS, urban developer and possible murderer. He always said he'd do anything to get his new arts corridor off the ground, now he's got until dawn to prove it.
  • MARIA GREY is Sterling’s friend, who runs an art gallery. The art gallery is helpful in covering up her ties to organized crime. The organized crime may be helpful in covering up her ties to Sterling Phillips.
  • JEAN BAMBA, daytime guard at the building, gets caught up in the excitement of being a hero. and drags his pregnant wife Wendy out of bed to chase down the clues.
  • TERRI HAWKINS, a vet tech, makes a night call to put down a sick dog. The house she's called to has surprising connections to the mystery everyone is chasing.

Character Concept Art

Soon it goes from a who-dun-it to a who-cares-who-dun-it, as we get lost in the different characters and their relationships with each other.

Gordon fumbles his way through all of it, being forced to question his assumptions about the people and situations he encounters, finally realizing that the most heroic thing he can do is see the person sitting across from him for who they are.

The film is being made by a core group that has been working together for over 10 years. Along the way we have worked with more and more kindred spirits creating bigger projects. Corridor is by far the boldest thing we have made and the closest to the kinds of films we hope to continue to make. Supporting the project not only helps this film get made, but hopefully allows us to continue working at a larger scale.

We think Corridor is a fun film - it has strong characters, humor, and even car chases, but we also hope to leave an impact on our audience. The story comes from a lot of our feelings about the last few years as people have become more and more polarized and unable to see the humanity in each other.  We don't offer any easy answers, but we hope if leaves viewers reflecting on their own journey and how trying to step outside of your own perspective and narrative can clarify just how complex and nuanced the world around us is.

Thanks to some friendly family donors, COVID grants, and credit cards, we've been able to film about half of the movie so far.

Now we need your help to close our funding gap:

We have 25 shooting days left to film. We currently have funds to cover around 12 of those days.

We are making our money go as far as we can, making a big looking movie for a modest indie budget. To do this, Milwaukee institutions like Electric Sun and North American Camera have partnered with us to help get the film made, but we still need your help.

If we raise $20k from this campaign that will get us to 22 days with only a small gap to fill from remaining fundraising.

Shooting has already been protracted when Covid hit weeks after our initial shoot started. We are hoping to be able to finish shooting by the end of 2021 so that we can share Corridor with the world in 2023.

With your pledge we can finish filming and move into post-production!

We have asked a handful of artists from the community to make awesome prizes to reward your pledge, but ultimately we hope you support us because Corridor sounds like a movie you would want to see.

We want to make a movie like the ones we fell in love with as kids. A fun, wild romp through the city at night. Full of mystery and laughs, strange characters and fun action. A movie that isn’t afraid to wear it’s heart on its sleeve and go for broke on emotions. And, we want to do it all for what a Hollywood movie spends on craft services.

And make sure your share our campaign with your friends and family:

"Check out Corridor, a new indie caper being made in Milwaukee. They have an awesome trailer and are currently raising money to finish shooting at SeedAndSpark.com/Fund/Corridor."

Images and links to the trailer are available in the media tab up top.

We hope you will join our wacky bunch of night owls!

PS: In the words of BLUE RUIN filmmaker Jeremy Saulnier, “Why support creativity when you can EXPLOIT it?” If you want to financially invest in the film and for backend points, please reach out to Kurt at [email protected]. We can’t promise you’ll make your money back, or get rich, but we can promise a really fun time!
