Council of Grievances
New York City, New York | Film Short
Comedy, Satire
Have you ever felt wronged in a way that there isn’t a clear hierarchy to complain to? Where there’s no penalty given to the culprit? Council of Grievances is a comedic take on what it might look like to have that entity, in this case, a council, to lodge your complaint.

Synopsis
Council of Grievances is a comedy short that explores the feeling that one needs to complain about something when there’s no logical person to register that complaint with.
Some examples of grievances that I have:
- A stranger is rude to a person, and the stranger simply shrugs it off, and the person can’t stop thinking about the interaction.
- A friend is always late for plans but most of the friend group doesn’t seem to mind.
- A company advertises employment services but doesn’t hire a graphic designer and uses AI-generated art for its advertisements.
Imagine if someone in a position of people could hear out your complaints! I know I wish it was possible. In Council of Grievances, we find out what that would be like. Of course, it’s a comedy, so nothing goes quite as our protagonist would like.
Motivation
I’ve spent years writing and producing low and no-budget sketches. I’m proud of what I’ve made and people seem to enjoy them. Now I want to make a more ambitious project, something that I need help funding. Council of Grievances will involve more actors, space, and equipment than I’m used to for my shoots and all it takes are pledges from people like you and your friends!
Project Status and Future
The Council of Grievances script is written, and pre-production is underway. Once the fundraising period ends, production and then post-production can begin. The funds will be used to pay for equipment, locations, cast, crew, and more. I tentatively plan to release it in May.
Once it’s completed, I’ll submit the short to festivals and post it on my YouTube and Vimeo channels. It will also live on in the portfolios of everyone who worked on it.
Fundraising Goals
If I raise $1,280, I will have hit 80% of my goal and have the green light!
If I raise $1,600, I will have hit my initial goal and can begin production!
If I raise $1,700, I can have the film professionally scored!
If I raise $1,800, I can have the sound professionally edited!
If I raise $2,100, I can secure the shoot location for a full day!
If I raise $2,750, I can submit Council of Grievances to festivals!
If I raise $3,200, I will have doubled my goal and will double the pay to my cast and crew!
