Director's Statement
Why am I the one to tell this story? This is my reality. I’m 23 and have grown up in the digital age, observing how technology impacts the adolescent experience––it’s more common to stalk your crush on Facebook than talk to him or her in class. This is my take on the the sometimes overwhelming nature of modern technology and how it inpacts our relationships.
Our Team Totally CRUSHED It
Like most super low budget indie films, CRSHD, has been a product of love, hard work, $1 loaves of sandwich bread and cheap coffee. As a first time feature writer/director I've been blessed with some pretty badass collaborators who've gotten the film this far. Our DP, Saaniya Zaveri, my closest collaborator where we met at the Prague Film School, flew from India to spend a month sweating it out in Ohio working with the bare minimum in equipment and time. Yet she managed to get incredible images no matter the circumstance. Josh Blankfield (Production Designer) hauled insane props back and forth while my mother, Jennifer George (Producer/Crafts Services), and Kim Rojas (Craft Services) raced to and from the grocery store somehow creating gourmet meals from bulk goods. There was our HMU queen Ruth Arden who acted partly as the set's therapist as she re-applied highlighter or sprayed fake sweat (water) on foreheads. Our three leads Isabelle Barbier, Deeksha Ketkar and Sadie Scott challenged me in all the best ways, always prepared with the exact right questions and suggestions to bring their characters to life. I could go on and on because every single person deserves a shout out... I'm beyond grateful for the energy and creative talent each person has brought along the way, from pre-production through to this very second!
We hope every audience has as much fun watching CRSHD as we've had making it and that you'll become part of our family through this crowdfunding campaign.
