The Story
Welcome to DANCEFLOOR
Queer and trans people have always found ways to care for each other—through the ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis, through COVID-19, and today, as our rights and lives remain under attack. DANCEFLOOR is a multimedia performance that brings these histories to life, blending live theatre, recorded voices of LGBTQ+ elders and activists, and VR technology to create a living archive of queer care.
We’ve produced a wildly successful run of this project in New Orleans, LA & Pittsburgh, PA. With each production, we’re developing this work and we’re now at our most ambitious goal: to create the most tourable iteration of this project. If we raise more than our goal, those funds will go to helping us bring DANCEFLOOR all across the country.
Where we are going:
At The Voxel in Baltimore, audiences will witness three researchers navigate past and present, engaging with the stories of long-term survivors, caregivers, and organizers. Through movement, sound, and immersive technology, we explore how queer and trans communities have survived, resisted, and cared for one another across generations.
But we need your help to make it happen.
Your support ensures fair wages for artists, immersive production elements, and the creation of a VR Archive of Queer Care—so these stories live on beyond the stage.
Join us in preserving queer history, honoring those who came before us, and fighting for those still here.
Live at The Voxel, Baltimore | May 2025
We are calling on our community to join us in creating theatre that provides radical care for queer communities, in Baltimore and beyond. Please consider making a $25 contribution, sharing our custom graphics, texting your friends, and tagging us in your posts.
