The Story
Deadbeat Summer is the story of a young man, Joy. Moving on after a rough breakup is easier said than done. We follow Joy as he tries to find himself and learn how to open up to others again. Charlie, his best friend, introduces him to Summer. Unsure of what to do, Joy uses his passion for guitar to communicate his emotions.
Director Nolan Kresnak approached writers Nick DiLorenzo and Jack Seligmann with an idea for an exploratory mood piece inspired by his time photographing various communities of young artists and musicians in Los Angeles. The screenwriters decided to explore the ways in which individuals creatively express their emotions through music and art. The main character in the script, Joy is a representation of these unique voices and cultures.
