The Story

"My love life is not a game."
DEAL? is a romantic dramedy that follows two roommates: lesbian playboy Casey Greene and deeply romantic Saylor Murphy as they struggle to overcome their personal hang ups on their quest to find girlfriends. When they swap dating methods, they begin to wonder if there’s really a “right way” to fall in love.
After Saylor's countless failed attempts at a relationship, Casey decides that enough is enough and challenges her to date around, but Saylor only agrees if Casey settles down and focuses on dating one girl. Once the "deal" is struck, it completely upends their lives.
MEET THE CHARACTERS:

"I get around but I'm no cheater."
Casey is a seemingly happy-go-lucky bartender, who in reality, can only be described as an emotional wreck. After spending her early 20s going through situationship after situationship, she finally meets Aria, someone she actually likes…but can she commit?

"I'm just someone who wants one person at a time."
Saylor is a quiet and reserved graphic designer who invests too much time in girls who aren’t interested in her. She’s hopelessly in love with one of her best friends, Riley, and everyone can see this except for her…and Riley.

"Because I know you."
Riley is Casey’s opinionated and loyal best friend who wants the best for everyone. She’s always willing to put the needs of others before herself. Obviously in love with Saylor, when she learns that Saylor made a deal with Casey, Riley finds it harder and harder to ignore her feelings.

"I want to know things about you."
Aria is Casey’s headstrong and caring coworker/occasional situationship. After giving up all hope for them to actually be together, and trying to focus on things like her job and her band, Aria is thrown for a loop when Casey looks like she can commit…but just not to her.

THE MESSAGE:
The core message of DEAL? is that no matter how messy, scary, or even weird dating can be, don't shut yourself off and have fun. This show focuses on young, lively characters who are trying to figure out who they are and who they want to be. This is something everyone has gone through and experienced in their life. Especially in this day and age, those are two scary questions, but DEAL? isn’t afraid to ask those questions and portray this experience for a young queer audience.
BUDGET:
We’re seeking to raise $7,000 as our budgeted goal. A majority of our budget, ≈$3,500, would go towards renting the filming location for our week long shoot. While the rest of the budget would cover equipment rentals, transportation costs, and food for our cast and crew.
STRETCH GOALS:
If we raise $8,000, this would provide us a larger budget for space rental, allowing for us to have longer and more thorough production days. If we raise $9,000, along with longer production days, we would be able to obtain higher quality filming equipment.
PLAN FOR DISTRIBUTION:
Our filming dates are in late August 2026. DEAL? will be released in episodes on YouTube in a weekly format.
