Returning from the front lines of the first World War, the oldest of three brothers cannot bear the sight of his middle sibling, who resembles a soldier he killed. He locks this brother in the attic never to be seen again, but he can still hear him moving around the house, planning his escape.

Mission Statement

By combining the classical horror of German Expressionism with the modern elements of the Analog horror genre, we hope to draw attention to the continuing, pervasive nature of cyclical violence, and the historic yet timeless truth that war leaves scars deeper than the surface.

The Story

The War Is Over...

As the first World War comes to a close, those sent overseas are forced to grapple with the world they return to. For one man, the eldest of three brothers, it's a return he's dreamt of for over a year. At long last, peace awaits him in his families New York townhouse. But The War Has Followed Him Home.

Our Story

Arriving back on familiar soil, the Eldest Brother finds a world entirely different than the one he left. The faces of his two younger brothers have changed, one very much for the worse. His Middle Brother now bears a striking resemblance to the soldier he killed overseas, and he can't stand to look at him. The trauma and grief drives him to madness, and he locks the middle brother up in the attic crawlspace, surrounded by hot water pipes that leave him with horrible burns.

Life continues in denial for the family, as the Youngest and Oldest brothers try to pretend nothing is wrong. However, it grows harder by the day to ignore the hissing of pipes and rattling noises coming from the attic crawlspace. Finally, one night when the house is quiet and still, the Middle Brother snaps the door to the attic and breaks out. What happens next? You'll have to tune in to find out!

Our Goal

There's a saying that when we do not learn from the mistakes of the past, we are doomed to repeat them. Devil In The Attic seeks to remind the audience in striking, vivid detail that, in spite of how far we've come, the horrors of war and its lasting impact haunt us to this day. With your help, we will attempt a truly unique combination of two integral hallmarks of the horror genre to support these thematic elements; the classical German Expressionist style of the 1920s, and the very recent, internet based analog horror movement.

With this project, we have the opportunity to create something as profound as it is unique, pay homage to the past while also breaking new ground. Never have the issues of war, violence, and the lasting horror they create have more timely, and we hope that through our project we can shine a light on just how cyclical the impacts can be.

How You Can Help

Devil In The Attic has undergone extensive development in the scripting stage and is now ready to begin Pre-Production. As a group of microbudget film makers, we rely heavily on the generosity of donors like you to help bring our projects to life. Here's a breakdown of how your donation would help make Devil In The Attic a reality:

  • 50% - Equipment Rental. These funds would go directly towards the acquisition of vital equipment required to bring this project to fruition. These include camera gear, lighting, and related support accessories.
  • 25% - Production Design. In order to create the world of the 1920s townhouse in which Devil In The Attic is set, our talented production design team must acquire all kinds of set decoration, props, makeup, and more.
  • 25% - Catering and Craft Services. Shoot days can be hard work! In order to keep our crew happy, energized, and well fed, we will be catering our full shoot day as well as stocking the set with craft services.

With your help, we can fulfill these vital production costs for our Early September shoot day and continue through to post-production, where everything will be pieced together for our eventual release. Once completed, the project will begin it's festival circuit before eventually finding distribution to the general public, either via a production company or through online platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo.

This 800$ campaign represents the minimum incurred cost to produce this project. Your continued support allows us to accomplish our additional Stretch Goals, in order to make the production process run smoother and more comfortably for our crew & cast:

  • Transportation to shooting location
  • Festival Submission Costs
  • Compensation for Crew Members
  • Additional Equipment Rental
