The Story
There’s something in the trunk.
And the most terrifying part… isn’t what’s inside. It’s what it brings out in people.

Devil in the Trunk is a supernatural neo-noir revenge western. A relentless, dust-choked chase through the American West where evil doesn’t just exist… it whispers, it tempts, and it convinces you you’re doing the right thing.
On a desolate stretch of highway in desert southwest, a lone woman drives deeper into the vast emptiness. She claims she's captured something evil... the actual Devil, trapped in the trunk of her car. Is she mad? A religious zealot? Or God forbid, is she telling the truth? Relentlessly pursued to a forgotten and decaying corner of America by a scarred lawman from a town that no longer exists, secrets will be revealed and true evil will be unleashed... sometimes in those we least suspect.
A horror story for our times.
This is a fable about how good people become capable of terrible things. Through every age of human history, we have watched unsettling things happen: People who believe they are good… doing things that feel cruel, extreme, even unrecognizable. Some of these people are those most important to us... parents, lifelong friends, neighbors, respected colleagues, and leaders. Suddenly, they seem to be different people, changed at their core, the look in their eyes, darker than the light we've always known. Devil in the Trunk explores this primal fear... what happens when evil infests the ones we love? Where do you turn when no one is who they appear to be and the desolate road ahead leads only deeper into darkness.
Horror inspired by real life.
As forensic pathologists, Executive Producers and founders of Six Feet Under Horror Fest, Dr. Leon Kelly and Dr. Dan Lingamfelter spent years face-to-face with the worst moments of humanity - violence, tragedy, and the weight of carrying those stories. That experience doesn’t leave you. It changes how you see the world… and how you understand evil. Dan and Leon have channeled those dark days and their gruesome journey into a passion for story telling, communal filmgoing, and genre filmmaking. So, when your work day is bathed in human suffering and the work you do hangs heavy on your soul, the question we ask ourselves is... what makes people do evil things? Are we all capable of evil... simmering, hiding, just below the surface, waiting to be unleashed? Or are we born pure of heart, only to be twisted by a cruel world and by those who wish to turn us against the light and against each other.

Devil in the Trunk explores a simple question:
What if the DEVIL doesn’t force you to do anything… What if it just gives you permission?
That idea became the bleeding heart of this film.
In Devil in the Trunk, the Devil doesn’t control people... he reveals them.
At the epicenter of Devil in the Trunk is visionary writer/director/producer Evan Alderson, a filmmaker whose career spans decades of hands-on experience in both practical and visual effects, grounded in a deep love of genre storytelling. After years working in Los Angeles, Evan made the intentional move to Colorado Springs - not to follow opportunity, but to create it by bringing together a community of talented, underutilized filmmakers and craftspeople. His ability to blend technical mastery with story-driven direction makes him uniquely equipped to deliver a film that feels both cinematic and darkly human. More than just a director, Evan is the driving force behind this project. He is the spark igniting a new wave of filmmaking in Southern Colorado... and Devil in the Trunk is the fuel that is bringing that vision to life.
Built by horror fans, for horror fans
This project is the culmination of years of passion and community.
Six Feet Under Horror Fest was created as a gathering. A place where horror fans could come together, reconnect during a period of growing social isolation, and share that electric feeling of watching something terrifying in a room full of actual humans.

What started as a small group of friends has grown into a thriving community of hundreds—a rolling slumber party of genre lovers, filmmakers, and fans... a true horror cinema cult, nestled in the Rocky Mountains.
Now, for the first time, we’re taking that community from the theater… to the screen.
The Devil speaks the truth:

Drawing on his unique background at the intersection of death investigation, horror, and human psychology, he has become a passionate advocate for regional filmmaking and emerging genre artists in the Rocky Mountain West. Through Six Feet Under, he has helped cultivate a growing regional horror community by curating independent genre films, championing emerging filmmakers, and spotlighting bold new voices in horror and short-form cinema. Known for blending sharp wit, deep genre knowledge, and an infectious enthusiasm for cult film culture, Dan has become a passionate advocate for independent horror artists throughout Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. In addition to producing and hosting festival events, he has served as an executive producer and actor on multiple short and feature film projects, including Deathgasm 2 and Frogman Returns, helping connect underground genre filmmaking with wider audiences.
