SYNOPSIS

In the quirky suburban neighborhood of Devil's Playground, multiple children, including Molly's daughter Zoe, have gone missing. As Molly grapples with the devastating loss, she faces a choice: continue her relentless search for Zoe or succumb to the temptation of forgetting her grim reality and moving on. With her most human desires pulling her in conflicting directions, Molly must navigate the eerie landscape of her community while confronting her own inner demons. As she dives deeper into the mystery, she discovers unsettling truths that challenge her perception of both her neighborhood and herself. In this gripping tale of loss, resilience, and the struggle for closure, Molly's journey explores the darkest corners of the human psyche and the enduring power of hope in the face of despair.

MOOD + COLOR PALETTE

Our story takes place in a small suburban neighborhood. There is an off-putting anxiousness about this place. Warm colors will be used throughout the entire film, especially the use of vivid acidic green. Green is an anxiety inducing color when it's removed from nature and it will be heavily used to produce the feeling of being uncomfortable. It will also be important to have the houses in the neighborhood and the park stand out with odd colors such as blue, yellow, and red to bring to life the chaos of the entire story.

CHARACTER PROFILES

MOLLY- Had what seemed like the picture-perfect life. However, everything changed when her daughter Zoe mysteriously went missing, shattering Molly’s world into pieces.

LUCAS- The enigmatic manager of the neighborhood playground, a figure shrouded in mystery. Little is known about his origins or true nature, but his unsettling presence casts a foreboding shadow over the community. With his strange personality and terrifying flexible limbs, it's certain he is not from this world. With a dark mission in mind, he entices people inside his playhouse not telling what comes next.

ZOE- Molly's daughter who goes missing at the start of our story. Left behind are many of her drawings that spark curiosity to Molly as to where Zoe might have disappeared to.

WHY?

In my short film, I aim to delve into profound biblical truths that echo throughout the human experience. Unlike conventional faith-based narratives with neatly tied endings, my film dares to portray the gritty reality of our world. It confronts viewers with the harshness of evil, compelling them to grapple with the complexities of life. It is in our own mess that we come to realize the only way out is through God.
