The Story
Not when it's obvious. Not when you're in immediate danger. But in the early moments. When a comment lingers a little too long, when a gesture feels slightly off. Your intuition whispers something, but your heart isn't ready to hear it.
"But it could just be my anxiety..."
Dream a Little Dream is a psychological horror short film about the warning signs we ignore.

The story follows Karah, a young woman whose recurring dreams begin to blur the line between romance and nightmare. Each night she finds herself pulled into a beautiful beach dreamscape and a charming man who seems to know her better than anyone else. Underneath, however, something is wrong. The dreams become increasingly disturbing, revealing truths Karah cannot yet bring herself to acknowledge while awake.
At its core, this is a story about intuition.
Many of us have experienced moments where something felt off before we could explain why. We replay conversations in our heads. We convince ourselves we're overreacting. We ignore the discomfort because we want to believe the best in someone.
Karah's dreams are the manifestation of that feeling.
The film uses recurring dream imagery (water, flowers, fruit, and a mysterious doorway) to create a visual language that reflects Karah's growing awareness of the reality around her. What begins as a romantic fantasy slowly transforms into something suffocating, mirroring the way manipulation can hide inside seemingly loving relationships.
Dream a Little Dream is ultimately a story about learning to trust yourself. About recognizing danger when it hides behind something beautiful. And about the quiet voice inside us that often knows the truth long before we do.

Karah represents every one of us that wants to see the best in people. She’s the girl who dreams, who looks at the bright side, and so desperately wants to give people the benefit of the doubt. Life is hard, so why not make it easier for people by being there for them?
Our film follows Karah as she navigates a new relationship with her coworker, Micheal. Although he isn’t perfect, she finds his charm and humor endearing and it gives her a reason to look forward to work. This is until the relationship starts to feel a bit suffocating.
As Micheal’s affection starts to become more and more about control, she has vivid dreams about him, which then turn into nightmares of her drowning. When reality soon reflects her dream state, she asks herself is this her intuition, or her anxiety?
ৡMichealৡ
Our Antagonist
Micheal is a charmer. On the surface level he is everything that a woman wants; charismatic, successful, handsome. He uses that to his advantage to get whatever he wants in life.
He puts on an illusion of caring. He plays “win the girl” to get what he wants, and then doesn’t stop. Sometimes this kindness is genuine, but he even fools himself with what real love is.
As filmmakers, we are drawn to stories that use genre to explore experiences that can be difficult to discuss openly. While Dream a Little Dream is framed as a psychological horror film, at its core it is a story about intuition, consent, and the warning signs we are often taught to ignore. Sexual assault is a topic that despite how common it is, rarely discussed in art. This leaves victims without a voice.
Too often, conversations surrounding sexual assault focus on moments that seem obvious in hindsight. In reality, many harmful situations begin with smaller moments of discomfort. Feelings get dismissed, rationalized, or overlooked. We are told not to overreact, and we learn to question our own perceptions rather than trust them.
This film examines what happens when those quiet warnings go unheard.
Through the lens of horror, we hope to create a story that resonates on both an emotional and visceral level. Horror has a unique ability to externalize fears that are otherwise difficult to articulate, allowing audiences to experience them in a deeply personal way. Our goal is not simply to frighten viewers, but to spark reflection about the importance of listening to ourselves when something feels wrong. Stories have the power to create conversation and connection. With Dream a Little Dream, we hope to tell a visually striking and emotionally honest story that lingers with audiences long after the credits roll.
