In the fall of 1981, Lanny Brown, a waitress of small town, Midway, finds herself stranded on the roadside, headed back from her broken down, drag of a job. A hardened transient, Eddie Dewar, seemingly hitching his way out of town. A maniacal Serial Killer rampant amongst the community, sets the back drop of our story, making this is the last place anyone would want to cross paths.

DRIVE ME HOME is the newest short film from filmmaker, writer, and actor, Jaclyn Fleming.

This suspense-driven thriller follows the terrifying wake of a serial killer whose relentless spree leaves an unsuspecting population gripped by fear. Set in an era when technology was considered advanced yet offered little immediate connection, the film captures the profound isolation and vulnerability of a world where help is never just a call away. Blending the shadowy atmosphere of classic neo-noir cinema with a modern exploration of psychopathy, it delivers a tense, visceral journey that keeps audiences on edge from beginning to end.

WHY TELL DRIVE ME HOME?

In a time where so many are struggling to balance being a creative in our industry with keeping a roof over their heads, combined with the pressure of every day living, art and storytelling is more important than ever. I believe that films, books, television and art of every medium takes the pain and suffering of life and turns it into magic we can be enveloped in. Without a spark of magic and belief in something more, we can easily lose sight of how much we have.

Jaclyn Fleming is a Toronto-born filmmaker, actor, and creative producer based in Los Angeles. Founder of Ginger Gremlin Productions, she turned a passion for creating comedy sketches into a career dedicated to storytelling, filmmaking, and building immersive creative worlds.

Following the success of the award-winning short film Are You There?, Jaclyn discovered that her love for film extends beyond acting to crafting stories that bring artists together and invite audiences into unforgettable experiences.

She believes creativity is a gift and that every project is an opportunity to make a little magic. Through collaboration, joy, and a shared passion for storytelling, Jaclyn creates work that resonates both on screen and behind the scenes.

This fundraiser is to cover the labor of our talented cast and crew and the entirety of production:

Worker wages: This includes our incredible director, phenomenal cinematographer, the lighting, sound, and camera teams, a makeup artist, a set dresser, and folks to keep everyone safe during stunts.

Production Expenses/Rentals&Materials: Any non-labor expenses needed while we are filming, including permits, set decoration, hard drives (for storing footage), costumes, props, and renting gear such as specific camera lenses, lights, or audio equipment.

Food: Our team will be working full days, so we want them to be properly fed—meals and snacks!

Post Production: This consists of the team that pieces all of our footage together, including our editor, colorist, composer and sound mixer.

Insurance: We must do our due diligence! This covers insurance costs to ensure everyone is safe and sound on set to avoid anything getting in the way of making magic on shoot days.

Cast: This is to cover the other actors in this film, not myself.

As writer, actor, and filmmaker, I am not taking any kind of paycheck. I'm also putting in my own time, money, and effort into the project.

If this film can reach the funding goals I've set out to, DRIVE ME HOME will shoot in late September/Early October. It's a big undertaking for one person, but we're only here for a short time, so we must make the most of what life we have. This movie is an ode to my deep love and passion for film and horror, specifically. I hope it's the beginning of many more projects, including some feature films I've begun working on.
