WHAT IS EAT MY SIN?

Stare deep into the red pool. Elaine and John try to navigate their turbulent relationship as they step out of the city. While breaking away for a vacation, something in the woods calls out to the both of them... something that could cure all of their troubles... a horror nightmare about a relationship that eats away at itself.

EAT MY SIN'S BIRTH

Eat My Sin was created from how otherworldly it felt trying to keep my body from fighting me. Anger to the point where I was scared that I would physically fall apart if I spoke. There was one point where I had become so paranoid that I believed my house had been bugged while I was at work, but was too afraid to say anything and come off as "not all there". These ended up being some of my PMS symptoms. I got my PCOS diagnosis during my first IUD appointment.

I knew it for years, but doctors dismissed my concerns. 

During my required ultrasound, they confirmed it. But there I was at my IUD appointment: half naked with paper over my waist, being casually told that after years of being convinced I was wrong, I was right.

Then the insertion attempts. In the span of ten minutes and an extra strength ibuprofen, the doctors had attempted two IUD insertions. I used to wrestle growing up and love getting tattoos. Even with my pain tolerance, the lights began to strobe, my palms filled with sweat, and I lost feeling in the left side of my face.

I left with both insertion attempts failed, in massive pain and trying to deal with a new diagnosis. I felt so alone and broken. I felt like a burden to others if I let people know how I truly felt. How I needed to mask how deep the rabbit hole went for me. In that, I wrote Eat My Sin. I wanted to write out my pain. The exhaustion of years of masking pain so I didn’t feel too overwhelming to others, trying to piece out if the paranoia and anger I felt were genuine thoughts or PMS symptoms.

Eat My Sin is meant to help people feel less alone when it comes to trying to figure out the balance in their identity, their diagnosis, and their body. That it is in fact scary and overwhelming and that they aren't alone in that feeling.

WHY SHOULD THIS STORY COME TO LIFE?

So many of the pains that people deal with is internal. Being able to externalize and show how much of an impact the consistent pain has on our day to day lives can be therapeutic. Horror has been a source of comfort for many marginalized folks. I hope that Eat My Sin brings comfort for those who deal with this and plants a seed to those who don’t experience this on a day to day basis.

EAT YOUR SIN, SEND CONTRIBUTIONS

In the current bubble of AI, we bring an original story that will use a team of artists that will bring this to life. Using the funds that we receive, we would be able to equip our team for success. That means being able to make sure that everyone is paid fair wages for their work, and would also be able to feed and water the teams. This would also make it so that they can do their best work while creating together. Contributions will also make it possible for us to secure supplies that will make horrifying moments pop onscreen. With Eat My Sin we explore these heavy themes through this use of filmmaking. So much of this story relies on a cast that can tackle this sensitive material while playing within the genre that horror has been able to explore so well for well over a hundred years.

Justin Robert Vinall has come onto this project to tackle those themes and navigate through that reality by adding a heighten level of atmospheric dread. His previous two films FROM THE DEPTHS and STARGAZER are both films that tackle the sense of obsession to oneself, the past and how we can create monsters within ourselves.

FROM THE DEPTHS is a sister film in many ways to what Eat My Sin is all about. However, we explore the darker tones of how a relationship can fracture from the sense of "fixing" someone and how the self destruction of two people can in a way create a more disastrous outcome. FROM THE DEPTHS premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival and had gone on to play at several genre festivals since.

And of course, while FROM THE DEPTHS oozes with heavy tension on a psychological level, his most recent work with STARGAZER dives into that same psyche but spins it with a grotesque cosmic nightmare. Currently in its festival run, STARGAZER explores the story of regret and obsession with starting over, the what if's in our life. A Cosmic Ghost Story that also premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival in 2025 and went on to win Best Short Film at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival as well!

Any kind of film takes a village, but it takes building a budget and allocating those resources to make stories like this come to life. Personal stories set against genre filmmaking create for a more dynamic and engaging discussion about who we are as people.
