The Story
A sci-fi tragicomedy that highlights, in the zaniest of fashions, the remarkable nature of friendship and technology while touching on other
fun themes like; loneliness, financial insecurity, and long wait times with customer service departments.
When Ledy's forever friend spontaneously malfunctions without an extended warranty,
Ledy is left to put her faith in human connection in the hands of a customer service representative.
A story of friendship: about finding, loving, keeping, and ultimately losing a friend after witnessing their technological demise
mid-Jack Nicholson in The Shining impression.
This story subtly and very overtly conveys the writer/director's greatest joys, fears, and anxieties surrounding friendship and modern technology. The maximalist style of the piece, not only speaks to the team's interests in world-building, but also aims to lift a magnifying glass to the absurd nature of everyday life in a modern world.

What to say about Ledy…
She’s… trying? Idk. That’s a synonym for barely making it by, right?
FUN FACTS: (that, depending on the day she will either deny til she dies, or confess with shocking honesty)
- She prides herself on being a hard worker, while having no idea what she’s working toward.
- She’s self-deprecating but would be shocked to hear you point out any of her faults.
- She makes a great shoulder to cry on as long as she can cry on yours 10 times more often.
- She likes satires because they make her feel smart, bodice-novels in lieu of a sex life, and leans much too heavily on a friend who’s only there because of her programming.

You could only have a best friend so perfect if you designed her that way.
She was a haggled-down garage sale purchase from a guy going through a divorce. Her involvement? We won't ask questions.
And even if we did, she had a complete factory reset, so YAY! Zero baggage!
She’s fearless, encyclopedic, compassionate, and a totally talented, badass babe.
If her full-time job wasn’t BFF she’d run an Elvira-themed cupcake biker bar bakery.

She’s crushing it without even trying.
-Basically perfect, but just flawed enough that you want to be her instead of hate her.
Monday through Friday she’s in the 9-5 grind- but this is no humdrum conundrum for her. She’s there because she has a GIFT.
Her ability to listen to people’s problems and save their sanity through a series of methodic troubleshooting measures makes the mundane miraculous.
She just gets you, you know? -Can really connect on a human level.
She’s nurturing, inspirational, empathetic, and dependable.
She’s everything that she was programmed to be.

*With your help, we will keep this pre-production train a'chuggin, and be able to use these funds towards all costs required for making this world-building sci-fi tragicomedy. Cameras are scheduled to begin rolling on the 16th of August for three days of shooting and one delightfully laborious day of set dressing.
Thank you for helping this dream of a nightmare become a reality!
Don't forget that your forever friend is out there waiting for YOU!
They just haven't been programmed yet.
Stay tuned:
As fundraising continues, and throughout production and post-production, we will be posting regularly to the Burn the With Prod. social media pages. Tess Rianne Sullivan is a vintage treasure lover, road-tripper, and addict of film and all things film adjacent. Among her many talents she: almost has a motorcycle license, was voted ‘Best All-Around Player’ on the 8th grade volleyball team, and sometimes gets lucky while playing pool. She is an indie filmmaker and loves it, because in the world of indie the hats are off to whoever’s passionate head fits the bill best. This medium has allowed her to work as a producer, actress, writer, director, AD, and of course, the humble but forever cherished role of- the PA.
sara carpenter

Sara Carpenter loves words so much you have no idea. A certified Shakespeare nerd, published author, and indie filmmaker - at the end of the day her passion is creating work that feels like hope with people that feel like home. In 2019, Molly moved to sunny Los Angeles to focus on film and is a writer, producer, opera singer, and actress. Oh! And also is a sound bath instructor :)

The best part of her life here has been making projects with her friends and encouraging each other to keep going.
