Mission Statement

We are a diverse crew (female producer, African-American cinematographer) and are giving some community college students their first opportunity to work on a professional film set. The students all come from underrepresented populations and this gives them a chance to build their resume and network.

The Story

From our writer/director, Eli Daughdrill: I am fascinated by the notion of identity. How it is formed, how it changes, and the push-pull between its internal and external discourses. From this fascination, and my own background, I wrote “Faith,” a story about a man struggling against the thing he sees as his most defining characteristic: his unyielding belief in God.

I grew up an Evangelical Christian but no longer am so this notion of changing, or shifting one’s central, governing ideology is naturally interesting to me. Things that I once thought of as absolute and foundational no longer have the power or meaning they once did. I’m approaching this story with an insider’s knowledge, but an outsider’s perspective. I understand the people, the place, the culture and its norms but now see it from a distance rather than as an active participant. However, I’m not interested in condescending to this community. Many people I love are still part of the Evangelical world and the film is not "above" them.  My  goal is to tell a specific and delicate story about this community and this particular character. In doing so, I'm hoping to say something real about being human, no matter what your religious beliefs.
