Mission Statement
The Story

Isolated in his bedroom, Micah retreats into the technicolor inner world of his mind to avoid reality. Here, he speaks with strangers and lovers he's never met, rehearses his own death, imagines himself accepting awards at The Academy, practices phone calls with his grandmother (whom he is actively ignoring in real life) and even entertains the possibility that he is God. Through a fantastical imagination, Micah experiments with versions of himself that are bolder, freer, and more alive than the one being caged by shame, anxiety, and fear.

Fantasy is a surreal exploration of Black queer interiority.
Micah ponders all that life could offer in his tenebrous world, without ever stepping into the real one. This story centers a young Black queer man searching for his connection to intimacy and spirituality. Through a blend of humor, vulnerability, and dreamlike fantasy, it encourages a world where Black men can playfully engage with softness and uncertainty. As Micah's fantasies grow more elaborate, they become both an escape and a mirror. Watch as his fragmented utopia of dreams reveal the hopes, fears, and possibilities that are shaping him into who he is becoming.
Where do you go when you want the world, but are too afraid to experience it?
Who is Emery?

In 2025, Emery earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater with an Acting concentration. After graduating, Emery found himself in the hustle and bustle of life. From biking to serving shifts at his restaurant job to filming endless self tapes for auditions, any artist knows the difficulty of not letting life's hardships drain your artistic motivation- it's hard and it's real. Fantasy comes from his personal acknowledgement of the state between the end of childhood and the step towards the "real" world. A place where you're not yet an adult, but not fully a child. Just a person who knows the power of imagination, with the ambitious hopes from a life long dream yet lived.
Emery has always been an artist and person who wants to bring his community together and direct attention to the gritty, honest secrets of our lives. With a team full of friends and incredible artists, this project was birthed and nurtured! It has not only reignited that artistic motivation within Emery, but established a creative outlet for him and the rest of the team to play and express themselves freely within the work. Among the many things Emery hopes you take away from this film, he hopes that it lights a fire within the audiences that watch it to keep pursuing their dreams (real or imaginary) and never let that artistic motivation die.
Project Inspiration
Fantasy is derived of the intimate, lived experience's of the creative team,
but where else can you get to know Fantasy?
Top: I See The Glow (A24), Atlanta (FX), Possession (Gaumont).
Bottom: Maid (Netflix), Euphoria (HBO), Midnight Mass (Netflix).
The essence of Fantasy is a collage of some of Emery's favorite productions. The ethereal, trippy, audacious wonderment of these stories, mixed in with their exposé qualities gives you what we strive for in Fantasy. Micah aims to reveal the lonely clown we all have inside of us. The one who gets restless to play when locked away for too long.
Some more elements you'll see within Fantasy include visual inspiration from the likes of
Petra Collins, Ashley Peña, and a little Emery Myers himself.

Our Budget

We're asking you to help us raise $5,000.
In order to make this story for audiences, we need access to equipment we don't have. We're hoping to raise enough money to rent sound equipment, which makes up a significant total of our budget. Sound in this film is going to be essential in order to elevate the audiences experience watching this film, and we are excited to gain access to equipment that will help us achieve this goal!
We value the people working on this film more than anything. Everyone working on this project is volunteering their time, resources, and talents to bring this film to life and we want to prioritize feeding our crew well. Another significant portion of our budget will cover the cost of serving our entire team breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks during our long shoot days.
The rest of our budget will help cover rental insurance, transportation reimbursement for our crew, and post production costs, like sending this film to film festivals to reach a wider audience!
If we reach our goal, we'd especially love to offer our production team and crew a small stipend to thank them for their time and efforts.
And if we reached our stretch goal of $8,000, we could honor our crew by paying them a higher wage of stipends, rent higher quality sound & film equipment for production, and send our film off to even more film festivals for the world to see!
Every contribution will help bring our goals to fruition and get this film in your hands!

If you've made it this far, THANK YOU for getting to know our dream.
We hope to bring Fantasy to audiences soon, and continue to make art that excites, provokes, and inspires.
