The Story
A young couple on the run in rural Missouri have a chance encounter with a mysterious man living in a cabin in the middle of the woods, leading to a monstrous revelation.
Feral and Wild falls within the Horror and Drama genres.

The film begins in the woods of rural Missouri. A young couple, Grace and Hunter, are fleeing from the law after an undisclosed yet clearly violent event.
As the two trek through the wilderness, they come across a old and weathered cabin in the middle of the woods - a place out of time. Here, they meet Henry, a seemingly innocent man who invites them inside.
Once inside, the couple learn that Henry isn’t what he seems and he, in turn, learns the couple’s dark secret - leading to a heart-pounding and possibly supernatural confrontation of guilt, sin, and violence.

The goal of Feral and Wild is to give audiences a uniquely uncomfortable horror experience. With themes of generational guilt, violence, sin, and loneliness operating in an uncharacteristically bleak and haunting atmosphere, this film aims to examine the deepest recesses of the human psyche in a way only cinema can.
Through careful and precise cinematography, thoughtful and immersive sound design, and gripping dialogue, Feral and Wild promises a horror experience like no other.
With cast, crew, and shooting locations local to Kansas City, we also hope to be a valuable part of the burgeoning community of films and filmmakers in this amazing city.

Feral and Wild aims to take the bleak post-apocalyptic setting of The Road, the engrossing and horrifically tense reflections on violence of No Country for Old Men, and the unsettling, ambient meditations of Stalker and marry them with our own vision for this story and genre to create a singular and viscerally unsettling horror experience.

Our vision for Feral and Wild is one of unique atmospheric terror, immersing the audience in guilt, horror, and violence just as vividly as the characters experience them. The bleak and ambient wilderness setting also aims to transport the audience to an otherworldly and uncomfortably uncanny place - as if Terrence Malick and Emmanuel Lubezki went full horror.

In addition, the horror of Feral and Wild hinges on its sound design. Many cues and moments in the screenplay are based in this sound - crackling fire, horrific screams, and cacophonous dread.
As a sound design focused filmmaker, Adler Moss plans to bring his distinct style and skill to Feral and Wild’s soundscape. With his previous work including the bombastic and thunderous sound design of the tornado-fueled short epic May 24 and the haunting yet beautiful soundscape of the short musical Homecoming, Moss now plans to create a unique, experiential, and horrifyingly uncanny soundscape for this unique addition to the horror genre.
