We Need More Female Genre Directors!
There aren't many female action directors or horror directors circulating in the Hollywood Film Industry, which makes it even harder for new female directors to break into these genres. Director Julia White has completed filming her debut action short film F*%ck, Marry, Kill about a famous "It" couple on the verge of divorce dealing with an unlikely home invasion in which a bloody mess of deceit and laughs ensue.
F**ck, Marry, Kill is Julia White’s Action-Thriller directing debut so she can amplify her career and one-day direct feature films in the vein of Edgar Wright and James Gunn.
Shot on a RED camera on location in Las Vegas, Award-Winning adult actors and real-life couple Will Pounder and Charlotte Stokely have picked up the roles of Olivia and Tyler in F**ck, Marry, Kill-- a couple about to sign their divorce paperwork and split up everything in their home. However, a surprise appearance from a robber sends their plans into a spiral and confrontation about why they're really separating, and if perhaps they're perfectly imperfect for one another.
Women Hiring Women:
Hiring women for this project has been important to us. Especially with all of our producers being members of Women In Film, an organization that advocates for and helps to advance the careers of women, with initiatives like “Hire Her Back.”
By supporting us, you are helping us support and hire who we want to: women! Our Production Crew is over 65% female identifying.
Where We Are Going Next:
With the film F**k, Marry, Kill completed, we need your help to submit to Film Festivals. We are raising money through Seed & Spark to pay for post-production costs, Film Festival submission fees, promotional materials, and travel to show F**ck, Marry, Kill everywhere we can! We are hitting the road Fall 2023!
Director's Vision: Julia White
After filming F**CK, MARRY, KILL, I envision my friends and family (in that order) standing over my gravestone where my epitaph reads: First film shot in Vegas, starring pornstars, sponsored by didlos.
That was my vision for this film, and, much like Thanos destroying half of the universe, it came true. I set out to write something that I would want to watch and to make it with people who are incredible (and arguably more talented than me). What I got was a set of approximately 75% female crew who made all my wacky dreams come true.
Directors like Edgar Wright, James Gunn, the ghost of who we all hoped Joss Whedon was - all were huge inspirations. I won’t say there aren’t a lot of horror or action female directors, because there are! They just don't get the same chances as their male counterparts. I want to change that, so one day some lil weirdo (like myself) can list out their top 5 women directors as a reason why they also want to make movies.
F**K, MARRY, KILL is inspired by my love of action and dark comedy– a kinetic frenzy that probably, if scanned in an MRI, is an exact map of my brain doing jumping jacks. I hope to share it with all of you as soon as possible.
