The Story
Naomi is a young sex worker who’s learned to survive on her own terms. One night, she meets Amari, a Twitter “john”. Naomi begins what she believes is another transactional gig, but what unfolds is an unexpected night-long journey across Atlanta. From diners to MARTA stations to gas station fashion shows and late-night park confessions, the two form a fragile connection built on shared pain and unspoken longing. But secrets emerge, emotions crack open, and both are forced to confront the cost of what it means to be seen. Exploring core themes of forgiveness and not letting your past define you.
For The Night” explores the intersection of emotional vulnerability and transactional relationships in modern youth culture. It’s a raw, character-driven story that doesn’t moralize or sanitize reality. Instead, it invites empathy, perspective, and unfiltered conversation. We need stories like these, ones that reflect the lives and struggles too often overlooked.
We are two young filmmakers telling stories that come from a place of truth and grit. We’re from the communities and cultures we’re portraying. This isn’t an outsider's gaze, it's ours. Our mission is to elevate authentic Black narratives that speak directly to those who have lived them, while giving everyone else a mirror to humanity they may have never considered.
Stories like Naomi and Amari’s, two young people who are hurting, navigating transactional intimacy, and seeking connection aren’t being told. In a world full of shallow content, “For The Night” is rooted in truth. It’s about timing, trauma, and tenderness. In a time of increasing emotional isolation, this story offers presence.
This film is intimate, tense, and emotional, with slices of awkward comedy. Think Moonlight meets Euphoria but scaled down, confined to fleeting encounters, public transportation, and dimly lit diners. It's gritty, poetic, and fearless.

Where We Are & How You Can Help
This campaign is your chance to directly empower our team to bring For The Night to life—exactly the way it’s meant to be told. We’re currently gearing up for production, and your pledges will directly fund everything from locations and gear to costumes, props, meals, and insurance. Once filming wraps, your support will carry us into post-production, covering editing, sound design, color grading, and our festival run.
We’ve built a passionate and dedicated team ready to pour everything into this film. With your help, we’ll be able to create something powerful, polished, and festival-ready.
What Happens Next
Our plan is to complete filming later this year and premiere the finished film by spring. This project also doubles as a proof of concept for a feature film, so your support helps build the future of For The Night beyond just the short.
If we surpass 100% funding, we’ll use that extra support to pay our cast and crew, who are giving their time, talent, and energy to make this film something special.
